Buna en basit \u00f6rnek olarak ilk \u00e7a\u011f insanlar\u0131n\u0131n avlar\u0131n\u0131 saymalar\u0131n\u0131 verebiliriz. Eski \u00e7a\u011flardan g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcze kadar olan s\u00fcre\u00e7te toplum i\u00e7erisinde matemati\u011fin kullan\u0131m alan\u0131 s\u00fcrekli geli\u015fim g\u00f6stermi\u015f ve bug\u00fcn i\u00e7erisinde oldu\u011fumuz 21. y\u00fczy\u0131l d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda matematik kavram\u0131 neredeyse insanl\u0131\u011f\u0131n att\u0131\u011f\u0131 her ad\u0131m\u0131n i\u00e7erisinde kendine yer bulmu\u015ftur. \u0130nsanl\u0131k kendi tarihi boyunca say\u0131s\u0131z matematik dehas\u0131 yeti\u015ftirmi\u015f ve bu insanlar\u0131n ortaya koydu\u011fu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar teknolojik geli\u015fmelere \u0131\u015f\u0131k tutmu\u015ftur. Matematik ile bilimde ilerleyen toplumlar di\u011fer toplumlara nazaran \u00e7ok daha b\u00fcy\u00fck at\u0131l\u0131mlar yaparak ekonomik ve sosyal y\u00f6nden geli\u015fmi\u015flerdir. Matemati\u011fin bu anlamda di\u011fer bilimlere de lokomotif oldu\u011fu ortadad\u0131r. \u00dcnl\u00fc matematik\u00e7i Hardy bu konudaki d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncelerini \u015fu s\u00f6zlerle ifade etmi\u015ftir: <i>\u201cFiziksel ger\u00e7ekte maddi d\u00fcnyay\u0131 gecesi g\u00fcnd\u00fcz\u00fc olan, depremleri olan, ay ve g\u00fcne\u015f tutulmalar\u0131 olan d\u00fcnyay\u0131 kastediyorum. Benim i\u00e7in ve san\u0131r\u0131m \u00e7o\u011fu i\u00e7in \u2018matematiksel ger\u00e7ek\u2019 diye tan\u0131mlayaca\u011f\u0131m ba\u015fka bir ger\u00e7ek vard\u0131r. Bu ger\u00e7eklik bizim d\u0131\u015f\u0131m\u0131zdad\u0131r. Bizim g\u00f6revimiz onu bulmak ve ortaya \u00e7\u0131karmakt\u0131r. \u0130spatlad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z veya \u00e7ok g\u00fczel s\u00f6zlerle ifade etti\u011fimiz teoremler asl\u0131nda g\u00f6zlemlerimizin sonu\u00e7lar\u0131ndan ibarettir.\u201d<\/i> (Nesin, 2008)<br \/>\nG\u00f6zlemler ve ger\u00e7eklerin matematiksel olarak ifade edilmesi toplumlar aras\u0131 ortak bir dilin do\u011fmas\u0131na zemin haz\u0131rlar. Bu dilin alfabesi matematiksel ifadelerdir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda ticaretten m\u00fchendisli\u011fe, t\u0131ptan sava\u015f teknolojilerine var\u0131ncaya kadar insanlar\u0131n matematiksel ifadeleri kullanmadan anla\u015fmalar\u0131 m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fildir. \u00d6rne\u011fin bir \u00fclkeden di\u011fer \u00fclkeye ticari mal ihracat\u0131 yap\u0131l\u0131rken bu mal\u0131n miktar\u0131n\u0131, maliyetini, ula\u015ft\u0131rma s\u00fcre ve mesafesini ifade ederken matematik kullanmak zorunluluktur. Bir mimar\u0131n geometri kurallar\u0131ndan faydalanmadan bir bina tasarlamas\u0131 m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 gibi bir doktorun kan testi sonu\u00e7lar\u0131n\u0131 say\u0131sal olarak incelemeden hastas\u0131na \u015feker tan\u0131s\u0131 koymas\u0131 s\u00f6z konusu olamaz. G\u00f6r\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fc gibi matemati\u011fin insan ili\u015fkilerinde etkin oldu\u011fu alanlara verilecek \u00f6rnekler \u00e7o\u011falt\u0131labilir. Bu denli b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6neme sahip olan matemati\u011fin \u00f6\u011fretimi de hassas bir konudur. Hatta \u00e7ocuklara matemati\u011fin en erken ya\u015fta ve etkin y\u00f6ntemlerle kavrat\u0131lmas\u0131 onlar\u0131n ya\u015famda \u00e7ok daha ba\u015far\u0131l\u0131 olmalar\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayacakt\u0131r. Bilinenin aksine matemati\u011fin en zor de\u011fil en kolay ders oldu\u011funun fark\u0131na varm\u0131\u015f olan \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n toplumda kaydedece\u011fi ilerlemeyi tahmin etmek zor de\u011fildir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde en geli\u015fmi\u015f \u00fclkelerin, matemati\u011fi en etkin kullanan yeti\u015fmi\u015f bireylerden olu\u015fan \u00fclkeler oldu\u011fu unutulmamal\u0131d\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matematik ve toplum<\/strong><br \/>\nToplumun dinamik yap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 ayakta tutan iskeletin g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda teknolojik yenilikler oldu\u011fu g\u00f6z \u00f6n\u00fcnde bulundurulursa bu geli\u015fmi\u015f sistemler karma\u015fas\u0131ndaki t\u00fcm belirsizliklerin matematiksel modellerle a\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015f oldu\u011fu kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7\u0131kacakt\u0131r. Matematik, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda hayat\u0131 kolayla\u015ft\u0131ran bulu\u015flar\u0131n temelini te\u015fkil eder. Bilim insanlar\u0131 taraf\u0131ndan ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131lan her yeni icad\u0131n hayata bir ba\u015fka kolayl\u0131k getirdi\u011fi \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda insanlar \u015f\u00fcphe yok ki ge\u00e7mi\u015f \u00e7a\u011flarda ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f olan insanlardan bu anlamda \u00e7ok daha \u015fansl\u0131 konumdalar. Toplumlar\u0131n refah seviyesinin artmas\u0131n\u0131n temelde bilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalarla hatta onun da temeline inecek olursak matematiksel geli\u015fmelerin bilime etkin bir \u015fekilde adapte edilmesiyle m\u00fcmk\u00fcn oldu\u011funu belirtmek gerekir. Bunun en bariz \u00f6rne\u011fi hi\u00e7 \u015f\u00fcphe yok ki bilgisayarlard\u0131r. Bilgisayarlar\u0131 saniyede milyonlarca i\u015flemi tek ba\u015flar\u0131na yapabilen yapay zekalar olarak tan\u0131mlayabiliriz. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde bilgisayar teknolojisi \u00f6yle bir noktaya varm\u0131\u015f durumdad\u0131r ki insanlar al\u0131\u015fveri\u015flerini dahi evlerinden \u00e7\u0131kmadan bilgisayarlar arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 ile yapabiliyor. Bug\u00fcn insanlara bilgisayar teknolojisinin kazand\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 en \u00f6nemli \u015fey belki de telafisi m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olmayan zamand\u0131r. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz insan\u0131 eski d\u00f6nemlerde ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f olan insanlara nazaran daha k\u0131sa zamanda daha \u00e7ok i\u015f yapabilme \u015fans\u0131n\u0131 bilgisayar teknolojileri ile yakalam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bunu hi\u00e7 \u015f\u00fcphesiz bilgisayar\u0131n \u00e7ekirde\u011fini olu\u015fturan matemati\u011fe ve ona hayatlar\u0131n\u0131 adam\u0131\u015f matematik dehalar\u0131na bor\u00e7luyuz.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cMatematik, d\u00fcnyay\u0131 anlamam\u0131zda ve ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z \u00e7evreyi geli\u015ftirmede ba\u015fvurdu\u011fumuz bir yard\u0131mc\u0131d\u0131r.\u201d<\/em> (Baykul, 1999) \u00d6yle ki matematik, bireye ya\u015fam\u0131n her saniyesinde varl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 hissettirir. Sabah uyand\u0131\u011f\u0131nda i\u015fe ge\u00e7 kal\u0131p kalmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 saati kontrol ederek anlayabilir. \u00d6\u011fle yeme\u011finde ne kadar \u00f6deme yapaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 matematiksel ifadelerle anlayabilir. \u0130\u015f \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f\u0131 al\u0131\u015fveri\u015fte hangi miktarda meyve alaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 matematiksel olarak d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnebilir. Ak\u015fam tuttu\u011fu tak\u0131m\u0131n futbol ma\u00e7\u0131nda skorun takibini ancak matematiksel olarak yapabilir. Ertesi g\u00fcnk\u00fc i\u015f program\u0131nda ka\u00e7 g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fme yapaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 yine matematiksel ifadelerle akl\u0131nda tutabilir. Birey istese de matematikten ka\u00e7amaz. Matemati\u011fin ya\u015fam\u0131 b\u00f6ylesine basit anlarda bile s\u0131k\u0131 s\u0131k\u0131ya sard\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcrsek elbette neden en karma\u015f\u0131k problemlerin bile matematik sanat\u0131 ile kolayca sonuca ula\u015ft\u0131r\u0131labilece\u011fini kavramak zor olmayacakt\u0131r.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cG\u00f6zlerimizin \u00f6n\u00fcnde serili bulunan do\u011fa, b\u00fcy\u00fck bir kitap gibidir. Ancak yaz\u0131lm\u0131\u015f oldu\u011fu dili biliyorsak bu kitab\u0131 okuyabiliriz, bu kitap da matematik diliyle yaz\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.\u201d<\/em>(Galileo Galilei) Toplumu birbirine kenetleyen de\u011ferler ki\u015filerin do\u011fay\u0131 ve birbirlerini anlamalar\u0131na s\u0131k\u0131 s\u0131k\u0131ya ba\u011fl\u0131d\u0131r. \u00c7evresinde d\u00f6n\u00fcp duran do\u011fa olaylar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6zlemleyip matematiksel olarak ifade etmeyi ba\u015faran ve bireylerle bilgi al\u0131\u015fveri\u015finde bu matematik dilini etkin bi\u00e7imde kullanan ki\u015filerin \u00f6nc\u00fcl\u00fck etti\u011fi toplumlar nas\u0131l ki ge\u00e7mi\u015fte en ileri medeniyetleri kurdularsa bug\u00fcnden sonra da b\u00f6yle olacakt\u0131r. Bunca bilimsel ilerlemeye ra\u011fmen evrenin insano\u011flundan saklad\u0131\u011f\u0131 daha bir\u00e7ok bilinmeyen vard\u0131r. Her t\u00fcrl\u00fc bilinmeyene kar\u015f\u0131 zihinsel sava\u015f verildi\u011fi \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda matematik, t\u00fcm g\u00fcc\u00fcyle insano\u011flunu kendi sonsuzlu\u011funa davet etmektedir. Kolay\u0131 daha da kolay yapabilmek yani hayat\u0131n refah seviyesini her ge\u00e7en g\u00fcn daha da y\u00fckseltebilmek yine insano\u011flunun kendi elindedir.<br \/>\nMatematik esas\u0131nda en g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc d\u00fczen sa\u011flay\u0131c\u0131 etkendir. \u00d6rne\u011fin bir matematiksel modelleme yap\u0131l\u0131p bu modellemeye uydurulmadan ayn\u0131 fabrikan\u0131n birbiriyle ayn\u0131 \u00f6zellikle iki otomobili \u00fcretmesi m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olabilir miydi? Elbette olamazd\u0131. \u0130\u015fte insano\u011flunun kendi d\u00fczenini sa\u011flarken mecbur oldu\u011fu matematik, evrende do\u011fal olarak olu\u015fmu\u015f d\u00fczenin yine ba\u015frol\u00fcndedir. G\u00fcne\u015f her y\u0131l ayn\u0131 mevsimde d\u00fcnya ile olan a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 ayn\u0131 oranda de\u011fi\u015ftirir, meyveler her y\u0131l ayn\u0131 boyda olgunla\u015f\u0131rlar, g\u00f6\u00e7men ku\u015flar her y\u0131l ayn\u0131 rotada ayn\u0131 zaman dilimlerinde ayn\u0131 miktarda yer de\u011fi\u015ftirirler. B\u00fct\u00fcn bunlar\u0131n bilinmesine ra\u011fmen bir toplumun matemati\u011fe uzak kalmas\u0131 ayn\u0131 zamanda d\u00fczene ve istikrara da uzak kalmas\u0131 demektir.<br \/>\nMatematik sadece pozitif bilimlerde de\u011fil sosyal bilimlerde de olduk\u00e7a etkindir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde bi \u00e7ok psikoloji ve sosyoloji ara\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131nda insanlar\u0131n duygu ve d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncelerine g\u00f6re matematiksel modellemeler yap\u0131larak sonu\u00e7lara ula\u015f\u0131l\u0131r. Bireyler fark\u0131nda olmasalar da sosyal ya\u015fant\u0131lar\u0131nda davran\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 basit mant\u0131ksal i\u015flemler ve duygular\u0131n\u0131n kesi\u015fimlerine g\u00f6re sergilerler. <em>\u201cMatematik d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceye, do\u011fru ak\u0131l y\u00fcr\u00fctmeye, alg\u0131 ve sezgiye dayal\u0131 bir bilim dal\u0131 olmas\u0131na ra\u011fmen, derslerin bu bi\u00e7imde ele al\u0131nmamas\u0131, \u00f6\u011frencilerin matemati\u011fi \u2018ezberlemeye y\u00f6nelik form\u00fcller dizisi\u2019 \u015feklinde alg\u0131lamalar\u0131na neden olmaktad\u0131r. Oysa konular\u0131 belli bir sistematik i\u00e7inde ele al\u0131nm\u0131\u015f olsa matemati\u011fin di\u011fer bilim dallar\u0131n\u0131n hizmetinde oldu\u011fu g\u00f6zler \u00f6n\u00fcne
