Havuzun tam tepesinden ya\u015fanan \u201ckarma\u015fa\u201dy\u0131 \u00e7izmeye kalkarsak, optikte \u201cgiri\u015fim deseni\u201d ad\u0131 verdi\u011fimiz yap\u0131y\u0131 g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015f oluruz.<\/p>\n<p>Young, 1800\u2019de \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n dalga olabilece\u011fini iddia eden bir makale yazm\u0131\u015ft\u0131 ve iki sebepten \u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fc kendisini bask\u0131 alt\u0131nda hissediyordu. \u0130lki, kendisi deney yapamadan birisi daha bunu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnebilirdi. \u0130kincisi, akademik ortamda, ortaya bir \u015feyler s\u00f6yleyip ka\u00e7an ki\u015fi olmak de\u011fil, kafas\u0131nda yaratt\u0131\u011f\u0131 modeli kan\u0131tlayan ki\u015fi olmak istiyordu. Young\u2019dan, toplulu\u011fun g\u00f6z\u00fc \u00f6n\u00fcnde kan\u0131t sunmas\u0131 talep edildi. Toplant\u0131 salonuna \u00f6nce kocaman bir le\u011fenle \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131 Thomas Young. Le\u011fene, iki yerine delik a\u00e7\u0131lm\u0131\u015f bir tahta yerle\u015ftirdi ve dikd\u00f6rtgen le\u011fenin bir yan\u0131ndan dalgalar yaratmaya ba\u015flad\u0131. Giri\u015fim desenlerini g\u00f6stermesinin ard\u0131ndan, t\u00fcm salonun siyah perdelerle hi\u00e7 \u0131\u015f\u0131k almayacak \u015fekilde kapat\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 istedi. Perdelerden birine toplu i\u011fneyle iki tane yar\u0131k a\u00e7t\u0131. Bundan yar\u0131m metre i\u00e7eriye de ba\u015fka bir perde yerle\u015ftirdi. Herkesin g\u00f6rmeyi bekledi\u011fi \u015fey iki kocaman \u00e7izgiyken, beklenmeyen bir \u015fey oldu. \u0130\u00e7 k\u0131s\u0131mdaki perde \u00fczerinde, ayn\u0131 su veya ses dalgalar\u0131nda oldu\u011fu gibi giri\u015fim desenleri g\u00f6r\u00fclmekteydi. Salonda, Newtoncu gelenekten gelen onca \u201c\u00f6nemli\u201d isim sessizli\u011fini korumaktayd\u0131. Hayatlar\u0131n\u0131 adad\u0131klar\u0131 bilim modelinin, ya\u015fam i\u00e7in en \u00f6nemli \u015fey olan, her g\u00fcn her yerde dolanan \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131klamakta zay\u0131f kalmas\u0131n\u0131n \u015fokunu atlatmalar\u0131, yakla\u015f\u0131k y\u00fczy\u0131l alacakt\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>Deneyin ba\u015far\u0131yla ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilmesinden hemen sonra, d\u00f6nemin akademik dergilerinden <em>Edinburgh Review<\/em>\u2019da anonim bir biliminsan\u0131, deneyin t\u00fcm\u00fcyle kurmaca oldu\u011funu, \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n h\u00e2l\u00e2 par\u00e7ac\u0131k gibi davrand\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ve Thomas Young\u2019\u0131n ba\u015far\u0131s\u0131z bir doktor oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in b\u00f6yle bir \u015farlatanl\u0131k i\u015fine giri\u015fti\u011fini yazd\u0131. Kurdu\u011fu deney d\u00fczene\u011fi t\u00fcm d\u00fcnyada konu\u015fulmakta ve tekrarlanmaktayd\u0131. 1807\u2019de \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n dalga modelini a\u00e7\u0131klayan bir ders kitab\u0131 yay\u0131mlayan Young, fizik alan\u0131nda \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmay\u0131 b\u0131rakarak g\u00f6z hekimli\u011fine geri d\u00f6nd\u00fc. \u015eimdi s\u0131rada, \u0131\u015f\u0131k modelleri hakk\u0131nda geli\u015ftirdi\u011fi bu fenomeni t\u0131p alan\u0131na sokmak vard\u0131. D\u00f6nemin \u00f6nde gelen fizik\u00e7ilerinden Jean Fresnel ve Christiaan Huygens\u2019in beraber \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma isteklerini kibarca reddedip muayenehanesini a\u00e7t\u0131. Huygens ve Fresnel, sonras\u0131nda optik alan\u0131nda Huygens-Fresnel prensibi olarak bilinecek olan ve Young deneyini t\u00fcm dalgalar i\u00e7in genelle\u015ftiren bir form\u00fclasyon geli\u015ftirdiler. Birinci yorum, \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n o zamana kadar hep bir b\u00fct\u00fcn halinde g\u00f6nderildi\u011fi, bundan dolay\u0131 da par\u00e7ac\u0131k olan \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n, daha yar\u0131\u011fa girmeden kendi kendine \u00e7arp\u0131\u015f\u0131p bu yar\u0131klar\u0131 olu\u015fturabilece\u011fi \u00fczerine kuruluydu. Dalga modeline itiraz eden fizik\u00e7iler 20. y\u00fczy\u0131l ba\u015flar\u0131nda \u015funu s\u00f6ylediler: \u201c\u00c7ift yar\u0131\u011f\u0131n hemen giri\u015fine bir dedekt\u00f6r koyal\u0131m, \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011fa tam yar\u0131ktan ge\u00e7ti\u011fi anda ne oluyor bakal\u0131m.\u201d 2004\u2019de Harvard \u00dcniv. Fizik Profes\u00f6r\u00fc \u015eahriyar Af\u015far (Shahriar Afshar), geli\u015fen teknolojik aletler sayesinde ikinci yorumun deneyini yapmay\u0131 ba\u015fard\u0131. \u201cKuantum Fizi\u011finde Af\u015far Deneyi\u201d olarak ge\u00e7en deney, \u00a0basit\u00e7e, \u00e7ift yar\u0131\u011f\u0131n tam \u00fcst noktas\u0131na bir dedekt\u00f6r\u00fcn konmas\u0131yla olu\u015fturuldu. Dedekt\u00f6r, ge\u00e7en her fotonun konum bilgisini bilgisayara kaydetti. Fakat ola\u011fan\u00fcst\u00fc bir durum meydana geldi: I\u015f\u0131k sanki g\u00f6zlemlendi\u011fini biliyordu ve par\u00e7ac\u0131k gibi davranmaya ba\u015flad\u0131. Ekranda iki adet uzun \u00e7izgi meydana gelmi\u015fti. Dedekt\u00f6r kapand\u0131\u011f\u0131nda ise yeniden dalga gibi bir giri\u015fim deseni olu\u015ftu.
