Bal\u0131kesir Muallim Mektebi&#8217;nden(tarih\u00e7ili\u011fi kadar \u00f6\u011freticili\u011fiyle de an\u0131lmas\u0131nda bu okulun etkisi olabilir mi?) mezun olduktan sonra Dil Tarih Co\u011frafya \u00a0Fak\u00fcltesi&#8217;ne ilk kabul edilen 40 \u00f6\u011frenci aras\u0131nda. Atat\u00fcrk\u2019\u00fcn fak\u00fclteyi zaman zaman ziyaret etti\u011fi, T\u00fcrk tarih tezinin reva\u00e7ta oldu\u011fu y\u0131llar. D\u00f6nemin genel e\u011filiminin aksine antropoloji ve eski T\u00fcrk tarihini de\u011fil, tarihimizdeki yerini ilgin\u00e7 buldu\u011fu, ar\u015fivi de b\u00fcy\u00fck ve zengin oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in Osmanl\u0131 devrini \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmay\u0131 tercih ediyor. \u201cRahatt\u0131k, yat\u0131l\u0131yd\u0131k, ak\u015famlar\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fck salonda garp m\u00fczi\u011fi dinlerdik,\u201d diyor. B\u00fct\u00fcn\u00fcyle Cumhuriyet&#8217;in kurumlar\u0131nda yeti\u015fmi\u015f ve kendisini daha buradayken ispatlam\u0131\u015f bir bilim insan\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>Fuad K\u00f6pr\u00fcl\u00fc\u2019n\u00fcn \u00f6\u011frencisi. Hen\u00fcz Annales Okulu ve Braudel ile tan\u0131\u015fmam\u0131\u015fken dahi Annales yakla\u015f\u0131m\u0131na ilham veren co\u011frafyac\u0131 Paul Vidal De La Blache&#8217;\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131yla kar\u015f\u0131la\u015fabilmi\u015f.<\/p>\n<p>Bulgar isyan\u0131 hakk\u0131nda Abd\u00fclhamit&#8217;in haz\u0131rlatt\u0131\u011f\u0131 raporlar\u0131 incelerken konuyu salt komitac\u0131lar\u0131n k\u0131\u015fk\u0131rtmas\u0131na ba\u011flaman\u0131n yanl\u0131\u015fl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 te\u015fhis ediyor. Buradaki sosyal \u00e7at\u0131\u015fmay\u0131 doktora tezinde i\u015fliyor ve sonra asl\u0131nda Balkanlardaki isyanlar\u0131n \u00e7o\u011funun benzer nedenlerden kaynakland\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcyor. \u00d6\u011frencilerinden Grigor Boykov&#8217;a g\u00f6re &#8220;Halil Bey&#8221; bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131yla Bulgaristan\u2019da T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;de oldu\u011fundan daha me\u015fhur.<\/p>\n<p>Osmanl\u0131 tarihi konusunda gerek Bat\u0131&#8217;da gerek T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;de \u00fcretilen pek \u00e7ok mitolojik \u00f6rt\u00fcy\u00fc kald\u0131r\u0131p, \u00f6nyarg\u0131lar\u0131 k\u0131r\u0131p hakikati aramaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015fm\u0131\u015f \u00f6mr\u00fcnce. Belki de siyasetin \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131n bilimselli\u011fine g\u00f6lge d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcrmesinden endi\u015fe etti\u011fi i\u00e7in g\u00fcndelik siyasete kar\u015f\u0131 mesafeli olmu\u015f hep. R\u00f6portajlar\u0131nda Atat\u00fcrk\u2019\u00fcn demokrasi ve bat\u0131l\u0131la\u015fma idealine Ziya G\u00f6kalp&#8217;in sosyolojik perspektifini de g\u00f6zard\u0131 etmeden ba\u011fl\u0131 kald\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcyor. Pek \u00e7ok konuda g\u00fcncelli\u011fini yitirmeyecek eserler ortaya koydu\u011fu alan\u0131n \u00f6nde gelen tarih\u00e7ileri taraf\u0131nda kabul ediliyor. Halil Bey&#8217;in kayb\u0131yla yap\u0131t\u0131 da bir noktal\u0131 virg\u00fclle kesintiye u\u011frad\u0131 \u015fimdilik.
