Kurallar, oyunun alan\u0131 ve zaman\u0131n\u0131 belirler ve b\u00f6ylelikle oyun, ya\u015fam\u0131n d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda kendine \u00f6zg\u00fc bir alanda kurgusal bir bi\u00e7imde var olur. \u015eu halde en temel haliyle oyun, kurallar\u0131yla kendine ait zaman ve mekanda var olan ve kat\u0131lman\u0131n keyfi olmas\u0131ndan dolay\u0131 \u00f6zg\u00fcr bir insan etkinli\u011fidir. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oyun, i\u00e7g\u00fcd\u00fcsel bir davran\u0131\u015f olarak hayvan d\u00fcnyas\u0131ndan, k\u00fclt\u00fcrel bir faaliyet olarak \u00e7ocuk ve yeti\u015fkin d\u00fcnyas\u0131na kadar geni\u015f bir alanda \u00e7e\u015fitlilik g\u00f6steren bir aktivitedir. \u201cYa\u015fam\u0131n ciddiyetiyle kar\u015f\u0131la\u015fmazdan \u00f6nce ailesinin korumas\u0131 alt\u0131nda ya\u015fayan k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck \u00e7ocu\u011fa \u00f6zg\u00fc\u201d (Fink 1994:26) bir faaliyet olarak anlam bulan oyun; \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n yeti\u015fkinlerin d\u00fcnyas\u0131na kat\u0131lmalar\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayan bir yol olarak, \u201cyeti\u015fkin ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131n taklidi ve haz\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131\u201d (Seymour-Smith 1986:224) olarak kabul edilir.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c7ocuk i\u00e7in faydal\u0131 bulunan oyun, yeti\u015fkin i\u00e7in \u201c\u00e7ocuk\u00e7a\u201d bulunmakta; b\u00f6ylece oyun de\u011fersel olarak iki z\u0131t kutupta yer almaktad\u0131r. Bir bo\u015f zaman faaliyeti olarak de\u011ferlendirilen oyunun kavramsal \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcmlemeleri, \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma ve oyun kar\u015f\u0131tl\u0131\u011f\u0131 temel al\u0131narak yap\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Ancak kimi ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lara g\u00f6re, bu z\u0131tl\u0131k, Bat\u0131 k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcn \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma merkezli yap\u0131s\u0131ndan kaynaklan\u0131r. \u201cRasyonel, b\u00fcrokratik, end\u00fcstriyel ve kentli bat\u0131 uygarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in oyun, k\u00fclt\u00fcr i\u00e7inde kar\u015f\u0131t bir sembol\u201d (Oriard 1991:443) olarak g\u00f6z\u00fckmektedir. End\u00fcstri devrimi \u00f6ncesinde, tar\u0131m toplumlar\u0131nda, dini bayramlar ve mevsimlik festivaller i\u00e7inde ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen oyunsal faaliyetler; end\u00fcstri devrimi sonras\u0131nda \u00f6zellikle Bat\u0131 toplumlar\u0131nda, \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma saatleri d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda kalan, yani \u201cbo\u015f zaman\u201dlarda ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilen faaliyetlere d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcr (Cross 1987:25).<\/p>\n<p>Oyunun tan\u0131mlanmas\u0131nda ve \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcmlenmesindeki zorluklardan biri, Bat\u0131 toplumlar\u0131n\u0131n ve Bat\u0131l\u0131-olmayan toplumlar\u0131n oyuna ve oyunsal faaliyetlere ili\u015fkin farkl\u0131 kavray\u0131\u015flarla ilgilidir. \u00d6rne\u011fin, Heider\u2019in 1977\u2019de inceledi\u011fi, Yeni Gine\u2019nin da\u011fl\u0131k b\u00f6lgesinde oynanan <strong>Dani<\/strong> oyununda -rekabetin olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 genel k\u00fclt\u00fcr de\u011ferlerine uygun olarak- skor yapma ve kurallara ba\u011fl\u0131l\u0131k neredeyse yok olmu\u015ftur; numaralar ve sayma i\u015flemi dikkate al\u0131nmadan d\u00fczenlilik ve kurallar tesad\u00fcfi davran\u0131\u015flar do\u011frultusunda belirlenmektedir. G\u00fcneybat\u0131 Amerikan yerlileri veya Havaililerde oldu\u011fu gibi geleneksel sanat, zanaat ve t\u00f6rensel pratikler, turistik ticari ama\u00e7larla yeniden canland\u0131r\u0131lmaktad\u0131r ve bu yerel performanslar seyircilerin beklentilerine uygun olarak de\u011fi\u015fime u\u011framaktad\u0131r. \u201cKeesing\u2019in g\u00f6sterdi\u011fi, Menomini K\u0131z\u0131lderilileri taraf\u0131ndan \u00f6l\u00fcn\u00fcn onuruna cenaze t\u00f6renlerinde oynanan <strong>lacrosse<\/strong> oyunu ile turistlere sergilenen oyun aras\u0131nda ba\u011flam ve anlam bak\u0131m\u0131ndan \u00e7ok az fark vard\u0131r.\u201d (Chick 1987:6)<\/p>\n<p>Benzer bir durum, oyunsal aktivitelerden olmakla birlikte, modern toplumlarda end\u00fcstriyel bir \u00fcr\u00fcne d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fclen spor i\u00e7in de s\u00f6z konusudur. Spor rekabete dayal\u0131 bir aktivite olarak, oyun ve \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma z\u0131tl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n aras\u0131nda yer almakta ve ta\u015f\u0131d\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma karakteri oyun ruhu ile bir paradoks yaratmaktad\u0131r. (Oriard 1991:XIII) \u201cYa\u015fam\u0131n oyuncak b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc\u201d (Greendorfer 1987:140) olarak tan\u0131mlanan spor; di\u011fer taraftan \u201cg\u00fcnl\u00fck ya\u015fam\u0131n b\u00fct\u00fcn unsurlar\u0131n\u0131 i\u00e7inde bar\u0131nd\u0131ran ve (onlar\u0131) yans\u0131tan toplumun mikrokosmosu\u201d olarak tan\u0131mlanmakta ve bu iddia \u201cSpordaki davran\u0131\u015f tarz\u0131 \u00e7evresindeki k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc i\u00e7erir; ba\u015fka bir deyi\u015fle, Amerikan futbolu ile Trobriand kriketindeki davran\u0131\u015f tarzlar\u0131 \u00e7ok fazla farkl\u0131l\u0131klar ta\u015f\u0131maktad\u0131r.\u201d (Sands 1999:3) \u015feklinde desteklenmektedir. Oyunun, k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc yans\u0131tan karakteri, tamamen rekabete dayanan modern futbol ile Yeni Gine\u2019de ya\u015fayan Gahuku-Gama\u2019lar\u0131n oynad\u0131\u011f\u0131 futbol aras\u0131ndaki farkl\u0131l\u0131kta kendini g\u00f6stermektedir. Gahuku-Gamalar \u201c&#8230; birka\u00e7 g\u00fcn \u00fcst \u00fcste, iki taraf\u0131n kazand\u0131\u011f\u0131 oyunlarla, kaybetti\u011fi oyunlar\u0131n denkle\u015fmesi i\u00e7in ka\u00e7 parti gerekiyorsa o kadar oynarlar.\u201d (Levi-Strauss 2000:55)<\/p>\n<p>Oyun ve oyunsal faaliyetlerin g\u00f6sterdi\u011fi k\u00fclt\u00fcrel farkl\u0131l\u0131klar ve oyunun kendi i\u00e7inde sergiledi\u011fi \u00e7e\u015fitlilik, kavram\u0131n tan\u0131mlanmas\u0131n\u0131 zorla\u015ft\u0131rmaktad\u0131r. K\u00fclt\u00fcrel \u00e7e\u015fitlili\u011fi esas alan antropolojik perspektif, bu noktada i\u015flevsel g\u00f6z\u00fckmektedir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antropoloji \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131nda oyun kavram\u0131na bak\u0131\u015f<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1800\u2019l\u00fc y\u0131llar\u0131n sonuna do\u011fru antropologlar\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 k\u00fclt\u00fcrel dif\u00fczyon, evrim ve dinin k\u00f6kenine ili\u015fkin \u00f6nemli teorilere y\u00f6nelmi\u015ftir; oyun gibi ikincil insan davran\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6z ard\u0131 eden bir bak\u0131\u015f s\u00f6z konusudur. (Sands 1999:3) Bu genel tutum ilerleyen y\u0131llarda da devam edecek; fonksiyonalizmin en parlak d\u00f6neminde, yani 1930\u2019lar, 40\u2019lar ve 50\u2019ler s\u00fcresince, oyun gibi k\u00fclt\u00fcrel \u00f6\u011feler olduk\u00e7a \u00f6nemsiz g\u00f6r\u00fclerek dikkate al\u0131nmayacak; akrabal\u0131k, ekonomik ve politik organizasyon ve ge\u00e7im \u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcleri gibi \u00f6\u011felere g\u00f6re ikincil bir \u00f6nem verilecektir. (Chick 1987:5)<\/p>\n<p>Antropolojide oyun \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmac\u0131lar\u0131nda \u00f6nc\u00fc isim olarak E. B. Tylor\u2019\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcyoruz. \u201cTylor, spor gibi aktivitelerin antropologlar i\u00e7in, tarihin erken a\u015famas\u0131ndaki k\u00fclt\u00fcrlerde, co\u011frafi anlamda birbirlerinden uzak olan insan gruplar\u0131n\u0131n kontak kurdu\u011funa ili\u015fkin \u00f6nemli kan\u0131t olu\u015fturabilece\u011finin fark\u0131ndad\u0131r.\u201d (Blanchard\u2019dan akt Sands 1999: 4) Buna g\u00f6re, \u201cSadece satran\u00e7 ve tenis gibi kompleks oyunlar de\u011fil, rahat tan\u0131mlanabilecek formda olan \u00e7ocuk\u00e7a sporlar\u0131n yay\u0131lmalar\u0131n\u0131n izleri harita \u00fczerinde a\u015fama a\u015fama izlenebilir; t\u0131pk\u0131 bir botanik\u00e7inin bitkilerin co\u011frafi merkezlerine izlerden ula\u015fmas\u0131 gibi. Bunlar\u0131n i\u00e7inde en ilginci olan Steawart Culin, Kuzey Amerika yerlileri aras\u0131nda pek \u00e7ok \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma yapm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r ve oyun ve spor aktivitelerine ili\u015fkin kapsaml\u0131 ve sistematik bir yap\u0131t veren ilk etnologdur. (Sands 1999:4) Raymond Firth, <em>A Dart Match in Tikopia: A Study of the Sociology of Primitive Sport<\/em>\u2019da, Tikopia k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcnde dart yar\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 ile sosyal organizasyon ve dini inan\u00e7lar aras\u0131ndaki ili\u015fkiyi inceler. \u00c7al\u0131\u015fman\u0131n sonunda Firth\u2019in \u00f6nerisi, sporun daha yo\u011fun bir ilgiyi hak etti\u011fi ve ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar i\u00e7in verimli bir yol olma potansiyeli ta\u015f\u0131d\u0131\u011f\u0131d\u0131r. Yine yak\u0131n tarihli bir \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma olan <em>The Pawnee Ghost Dance Hand Game<\/em>\u2019de, Alexander Lesser oyunun Pawnee k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcyle ba\u011flant\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 incelemektedir.<\/p>\n<p>1960\u2019larla birlikte Bat\u0131 toplumlar\u0131nda ya\u015fanan de\u011fi\u015fim hareketleri akademik disiplinlerin bak\u0131\u015flar\u0131nda \u00f6nemli etkiler yarat\u0131r. \u00d6zellikle sosyal bilim alanlar\u0131nda meydana gelen bu de\u011fi\u015fimde Marx ve Antonio Gramsci, Herbert Marcuse, Louis Althusser, Henri Lefebvre gibi Marksist ve Marksizm\u2019den etkilenen yazarlar\u0131n etkisi a\u00e7\u0131k bir \u015fekilde kendini g\u00f6stermektedir. Bo\u015f zaman ve e\u011flence, spor gibi etkinlikler \u201cideolojik yeniden \u00fcretimle kapitalist toplumsal ili\u015fkilerin s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclmesine hizmet eden b\u00fcy\u00fck bir ayg\u0131t\u0131n par\u00e7alar\u0131\u201d olarak g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr; \u201cmodern kapitalist d\u00fczenin ekonomi politi\u011finin \u00f6nemli bir b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fc olu\u015fturan \u2018k\u00fclt\u00fcr end\u00fcstrisi\u2019, genel d\u00fczenleyici hatlar\u0131 devlet taraf\u0131ndan belirlenen bir fayda ile \u2018zevk\u2019i \u00fcretir ve da\u011f\u0131t\u0131r\u201d benzeri arg\u00fcmanlar ile ele al\u0131n\u0131r. (Wilson 1987:51)<\/p>\n<p>Bu d\u00f6nem i\u00e7erisinde gerek antropoloji, gerekse antropoloji d\u0131\u015f\u0131ndaki alanlarda \u00f6zellikle spor ve k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcn ili\u015fkilerine ili\u015fkin \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n say\u0131s\u0131 h\u0131zla artar. Psikoloji, tarih, e\u011fitim ve \u00f6zellikle de sosyoloji gibi disiplinler \u201csporun sosyal sistemin d\u0131\u015favurumu oldu\u011fu iddias\u0131ndayd\u0131lar\u201d. (Sands 1999:5) Sosyoloji, antropolojiye g\u00f6re, \u201csosyal sistemde daha \u00f6nemli bir \u00f6\u011fe olarak g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc\u201d (Blanchard 1985) sporu daha vurgulu bir \u015fekilde ele al\u0131r. Ne var ki, antropoloji bu a\u00e7\u0131\u011f\u0131 kapatma \u00e7abas\u0131na girmekte gecikmeyecektir, \u00f6rne\u011fin, Leslie White, 1964\u2019te <em>American Anthropological Association<\/em>\u2019daki s\u00f6ylevinde \u201cAntropolojinin spor \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 i\u00e7in, \u00f6zellikle Amerikan k\u00fclt\u00fcrel sisteminin ya\u015famsal bir d\u0131\u015favurumu olarak g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc beysbol i\u00e7in, g\u00fcvenli bir model sundu\u011funu ileri s\u00fcrm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u201d.
