Dinozorlar\u0131n en yak\u0131n akrabas\u0131 olan ku\u015flar esas\u0131nda g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde ya\u015fayan dinozorlar olarak da kabul edilebilir. Bu a\u00e7\u0131dan bak\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131nda dinozorlar\u0131n ger\u00e7ekten yok olduklar\u0131n\u0131 s\u00f6ylemek kladistik sistemati\u011fin ortaya koydu\u011fu sonu\u00e7lar dahilinde pek m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fildir.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Uzun y\u0131llar boyunca, t\u00fcylerin ku\u015flara \u00f6zg\u00fc bir \u00f6zellik oldu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcld\u00fc. Ancak, 1990\u2019l\u0131 y\u0131llardaki fosil ke\u015fifler, dinozor benzeri atasal formlar\u0131n ku\u015flar\u0131n evriminden \u00f6nce t\u00fcylere sahip oldu\u011funu g\u00f6sterdi. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla, bu t\u00fcr kan\u0131tlar, t\u00fcylerin u\u00e7ma davran\u0131\u015f\u0131 \u00f6ncesinde evrimle\u015fti\u011fini do\u011frular nitelikteydi. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde dinozorlar\u0131n yok oldu\u011funu s\u00f6ylemek \u00e7ok da do\u011fru de\u011fil; \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc evrimsel kan\u0131tlar, ku\u015flar\u0131 ya\u015fayan dinozorlar olarak kabul edebilece\u011fimize i\u015faret ediyor. Dahas\u0131, molek\u00fcler anlamda elde edilen kan\u0131tlar, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde kabul g\u00f6ren ku\u015f sistemati\u011fini de\u011fi\u015ftirebilecek g\u00fcce sahip gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcn\u00fcyor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Archaeopteryx<\/strong><strong> fosilinin \u00f6yk\u00fcs\u00fc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ku\u015flar\u0131n k\u00f6keni konusunda bilinenlerin s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 olmas\u0131 nedeniyle konu uzun s\u00fcre tart\u0131\u015f\u0131ld\u0131. Ku\u015flara ait fosiller olduk\u00e7a nadirdi. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc bu canl\u0131lar, ince ve i\u00e7i bo\u015f kemiklere sahip olman\u0131n yan\u0131nda genel yap\u0131lar\u0131 itibariyle olduk\u00e7a narindiler. Bu nedenle yayg\u0131n bir \u015fekilde ku\u015f fosillerine rastlamak da m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olmuyordu. Ancak, 1980\u2019lerin sonuna kadar biriken kan\u0131tlar, ku\u015flar\u0131n et\u00e7il k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir dinozor grubundan gedi\u011fini g\u00f6sterir nitelikteydi. Tamam\u0131yla u\u00e7amayan et\u00e7il dinozorlar\u0131n meydana getirdi\u011fi bu grupta evrimsel s\u00fcre\u00e7 kendini g\u00f6stermi\u015f ve u\u00e7maya giden yolu haz\u0131rlam\u0131\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>Ornitoloji alan\u0131ndaki bilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n h\u0131z kazanmas\u0131 ve bununla birlikte biriken bilgilerin paleontolojiyle bir araya getirilmesi sonucunda, ku\u015flar\u0131n olas\u0131 evrimsel \u00f6yk\u00fcs\u00fc yava\u015f yava\u015f netlik kazanmaya ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Bu \u00f6nemli \u00f6rnek, 1861 y\u0131l\u0131nda Eichstatt yak\u0131nlar\u0131ndaki Blumenberg\u2019de bulunmu\u015f. Bu fosilin en dikkat \u00e7eken yan\u0131 olduk\u00e7a iyi korunmu\u015f olmas\u0131. T\u00fcyleri ve kafatas\u0131n\u0131 fosil \u00fczerinde rahatl\u0131kla ay\u0131rt edebilmek m\u00fcmk\u00fcn. Fosili bulan Jakop Niemeyer, yakla\u015f\u0131k 150 Alman Mark\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131nda bu \u00f6rne\u011fi Johann D\u00f6rr isimli ki\u015fiye satm\u0131\u015f. Daha sonra da fosil, D\u00f6rr taraf\u0131ndan 2000 Alman Mark\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131nda Ernst Haberlein\u2019a sat\u0131lm\u0131\u015f. (\u015eekil 3) Peki, <em>Archeopteryx<\/em>\u2019in ku\u015flar ve s\u00fcr\u00fcngenler aras\u0131nda bir ara form olmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayan \u00f6zellikleri neler? Bu \u00f6zelliklere dayan\u0131larak tam bir ge\u00e7i\u015f formu olarak kabul ediliyor.<\/p>\n<p><em>Archeopteryx<\/em>\u2019in ku\u015flara yak\u0131n \u00f6zelliklerini s\u0131ralamak istersek en ba\u015fta uzun ince kemikler i\u00e7indeki bo\u015fluklardan s\u00f6z etmek gerekir. Bu \u015fekilde a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131n azalt\u0131lmas\u0131, u\u00e7maya uyum a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan m\u00fckemmel bir yap\u0131 sa\u011flar. Ayr\u0131ca, ilk defa t\u00fcylerin g\u00f6r\u00fclmesi de\u011fil, asimetrik u\u00e7ma t\u00fcylerinin ortaya \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131 u\u00e7ma ile ilgili \u00f6nemli bir di\u011fer adaptasyon olarak dikkat \u00e7eker. Simetrik t\u00fcyler ku\u015f \u00f6zelli\u011fi g\u00f6stermeyen di\u011fer dinozor gruplar\u0131nda da g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr. Bu t\u00fcyler denge sa\u011flamak, kaymak ve hatta havada av\u0131 takip ederken z\u0131plamak i\u00e7in uygun hareketlerin yap\u0131lmas\u0131na yard\u0131mc\u0131 olurlar.<\/p>\n<p>Ancak, ger\u00e7ek bir u\u00e7u\u015fu ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirebilmek i\u00e7in gerekli iti\u015f g\u00fcc\u00fcn\u00fc sadece asimetrik t\u00fcylere sahip kanatlar sa\u011flayabilir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz ku\u015flar\u0131nda da bunu sa\u011flayan birinci \u00f6rt\u00fc t\u00fcyleridir (kanad\u0131n d\u0131\u015f k\u0131sm\u0131nda ve u\u00e7ta yer alan t\u00fcyler). Asimetrik t\u00fcylere sahip oldu\u011fu bilinen tek ilkin ku\u015f <em>Archeopteryx<\/em> olarak biliniyor. <em>Xiatingia,<\/em> Jura d\u00f6neminde var olmu\u015f ilkin ku\u015flar\u0131n \u00e7e\u015fitlili\u011fine \u00f6rnek olarak verilebilecek bir di\u011fer fosil ku\u015f t\u00fcr\u00fc. Ne yaz\u0131k ki bu t\u00fcr\u00fcn fosil \u00f6rne\u011finde t\u00fcylerin yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 b\u00f6lgeler korunmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in <em>Archeopteryx<\/em>\u2019in sahip oldu\u011fu asimetrik t\u00fcylerin bu t\u00fcrde de g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcp g\u00f6r\u00fclmedi\u011fi bilinmiyor. A\u00e7\u0131k olansa, bu iki t\u00fcr\u00fcn Jura d\u00f6nemindeki ilkin ku\u015flar\u0131n \u00e7e\u015fitlili\u011fini ortaya koyma potansiyeline sahip birer kan\u0131t niteli\u011finde olmalar\u0131. <em>Archeopteryx<\/em>\u2019in ku\u015flardan farkl\u0131 olarak gagalar\u0131nda di\u015flerin olmas\u0131, iskelet sistemindeki a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131k azalt\u0131c\u0131 uyumun t\u00fcm kemiklerde bulunmamas\u0131 (\u00f6rne\u011fin uzun bir kuyruklar\u0131n\u0131n olmas\u0131), bu t\u00fcr\u00fcn bir ge\u00e7i\u015f formu olarak kabul edilmesine dayanak sa\u011flar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ku\u015flar neden ve nas\u0131l u\u00e7maya ba\u015flad\u0131? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Archeopteryx<\/em>\u2019in ge\u00e7i\u015f formu oldu\u011fu y\u00f6n\u00fcndeki bu a\u00e7\u0131klamay\u0131 takiben \u201cku\u015flar neden ve nas\u0131l u\u00e7maya ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r?\u201d sorusunu k\u0131saca \u00f6zetlemek yerinde olur. Jura d\u00f6neminde ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f ilkin ku\u015flar v\u00fccut formu ve ekoloji gibi temel \u00f6zellikleri payla\u015f\u0131rlar. Bu t\u00fcrler avlar\u0131n\u0131n pe\u015finden ko\u015fan ve avc\u0131lardan saklanan karasal y\u0131rt\u0131c\u0131lard\u0131r. Birbirleriyle rekabet halindedirler ve hatta birbirlerini de avlayabilirler.<\/p>\n<p>Hen\u00fcz Jura d\u00f6neminde ortaya \u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015f olan u\u00e7ma yetenekleri ise bir ya da birka\u00e7 soy hatt\u0131na avantaj sa\u011flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. U\u00e7maya ba\u015flayan ilkin teropodlar bu konuda yetenekli say\u0131lmazlard\u0131. K\u0131sa bir u\u00e7u\u015f denemesi bile karasal bir y\u0131rt\u0131c\u0131 taraf\u0131ndan u\u011fran\u0131lan sald\u0131r\u0131yla sonu\u00e7lanabiliyordu.
