Ge\u00e7en 20 Ocak\u2019ta da \u0130ngiltere yarg\u0131s\u0131, Putin\u2019in onay\u0131yla, Litvinenko\u2019nun Rus gizli g\u00fcvenlik servisi yoluyla zehirletildi\u011fi olas\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n b\u00fcy\u00fck oldu\u011funu a\u00e7\u0131klad\u0131.(1) Bunun \u00fczerine \u0130ngiltere Ba\u015fbakan\u0131 Cameron, b\u00f6yle bir durumun kabul edilemeyece\u011fini ve Rusya\u2019yla ili\u015fkilerinin yeniden g\u00f6zden ge\u00e7irilece\u011fini a\u00e7\u0131klarken, Rus yetkilileri ortada kesin belgeler bulunmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, yarg\u0131 karar\u0131yla ilgili raporda da s\u0131k s\u0131k \u2018olas\u0131l\u0131ktan\u2019 s\u00f6z edildi\u011fini vurgulayarak bu yarg\u0131 karar\u0131n\u0131n kabul edilemez oldu\u011funu a\u00e7\u0131klad\u0131lar. Litvinenko\u2019nun e\u015fi, bu yarg\u0131 karar\u0131na dayanarak \u0130ngiltere\u2019nin Rusya\u2019ya yapt\u0131r\u0131mlar uygulamas\u0131n\u0131 istiyor.<\/p>\n<p>Biz i\u015fin yarg\u0131 ve siyasal yan\u0131n\u0131 bir yana b\u0131rakarak, Litvinenko\u2019nun zehirletilmesinde neden ba\u015fka zehirli maddeler de\u011fil de radyoaktif Polonyum 210\u2019nun (Po 210) se\u00e7ildi\u011fini a\u00e7\u0131klamaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015faca\u011f\u0131z.<\/p>\n<p>En sonda s\u00f6yleyece\u011fimizi, ba\u015fta s\u00f6ylersek: Radyoaktif Po 210\u2019nun on milyonda bir gram\u0131 bile insan v\u00fccuduna girdi\u011finde, \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck radyasyon dozu olu\u015fturuyor ve bulundu\u011fu h\u00fccre ve organlar\u0131 bir anda a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 \u0131s\u0131nmayla parampar\u00e7a ederek i\u00e7 kanamalarla, b\u00fcy\u00fck ac\u0131 \u00e7ektirerek ki\u015fiyi k\u0131sa s\u00fcrede \u00f6l\u00fcme g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcyor.<\/p>\n<p>Po 210 neden bu kadar etkin? Bunu, radyasyon fizi\u011fine biraz girerek, a\u00e7\u0131klamam\u0131z gerekiyor.<\/p>\n<p>Po 210\u2019nun \u00f6zg\u00fcl radyoaktivitesi ya da gram\u0131 ba\u015f\u0131na atom \u00e7ekirdeklerinin bozunma (par\u00e7alanma) say\u0131s\u0131 \u00e7ok y\u00fcksek: 1,67&#215;10<strong><sup>14<\/sup><\/strong> Becquerel (Bq). Ba\u015fka deyi\u015fle her gram\u0131 ba\u015f\u0131na, her saniye 167 trilyon atom \u00e7ekirde\u011fi par\u00e7alan\u0131yor. Her bozunmada ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan a\u011f\u0131r k\u00fctleli alfa taneci\u011fi, bulundu\u011fu h\u00fccre ya da organda so\u011furularak v\u00fccuda enerjisini aktar\u0131yor ve bu da \u0131s\u0131ya d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcyor.<\/p>\n<p>Radyasyonun v\u00fccuda aktard\u0131\u011f\u0131 enerji, radyasyon fizi\u011finde, \u2018radyasyon dozu\u2019 olarak ifade ediliyor ve Sievert (Sv) birimiyle g\u00f6steriliyor. Do\u011fal radyasyondan v\u00fccudumuz y\u0131lda 1 Sievert\u2019lik dozun binde 2-3\u2019\u00fc kadar etkilenir (y\u0131lda ortalama olarak 0,0024 Sv) ve sa\u011fl\u0131kl\u0131 ya\u015far\u0131z. V\u00fccuda \u00f6rne\u011fin on milyonda bir gram Po 210 bir anda girerse 20 Sievert kadar \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck ve ani (akut) \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fcc\u00fc bir doz olu\u015fur. Po 210\u2019nun doz katsay\u0131s\u0131 ya da saniyede 1 atom \u00e7ekirde\u011fi bozunumu olan Becquerel (Bq) aktivitesi ba\u015f\u0131na olu\u015fan radyasyon dozu 1,2x 10<strong><sup>-3 <\/sup><\/strong>miliSievert (mSv) olup, \u00f6rne\u011fin \u00e7ok zehirli olarak bilinen plutonyum 239\u2019unkinden 72600 kat daha fazla. Bu nedenle Po 210 se\u00e7ilmi\u015f ve bundan, kimsenin fark edemeyece\u011fi, bir toz \u015feker taneci\u011fi kadar bile olmayan, \u00e7ok az bir miktar, Litvinenko\u2019nun otelde i\u00e7ti\u011fi \u00e7ay\u0131na kat\u0131larak \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcne yol a\u00e7\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. (1, 2) Litvinenko\u2019yu zehirleyen maddenin Po 210 oldu\u011fu, gerek v\u00fccudundan al\u0131nan \u00f6rneklerde, gerekse \u00e7aydanl\u0131kta ve ba\u015fka bir\u00e7ok yerde yap\u0131lan \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcmlerle belirlenmi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6te yandan 2004\u2019de \u00f6len Filistin lideri Yaser Arafat\u2019\u0131n da Po 210 ile zehirlenmi\u015f olabilece\u011fi ortaya at\u0131lm\u0131\u015f, 2012\u2019de v\u00fccudunun kal\u0131nt\u0131lar\u0131ndan al\u0131nan \u00f6rnekler \u0130svi\u00e7re, Fransa ve Rusya laboratuvarlar\u0131nda incelenmi\u015f, bu \u00f6rneklerde Fransa ve Rusya\u2019da bir kan\u0131t bulunamam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. \u0130svi\u00e7re laboratuvar\u0131nda ise \u00f6rnekte bulunan a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 kur\u015funun Po 210\u2019dan t\u00fcreyebilece\u011fi belirtilmi\u015f ise de bunun ba\u015fka kaynaklardan da gelebilece\u011fi nedeniyle Yaser Arafat\u2019\u0131n Po 210 ile zehirlenmi\u015f olabilece\u011fi kan\u0131tlanamam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r (Po 210\u2019nun 138 g\u00fcnl\u00fck olduk\u00e7a k\u0131sa yar\u0131lanma s\u00fcresi nedeniyle, aradan ge\u00e7en 8 y\u0131lda Po 210\u2019dan \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm i\u00e7in pek bir \u015fey kalmaz).<\/p>\n<p>Po 210 do\u011fada \u00e7ok az var. Toryum ve Uranyum\/Radyum dizilerinin bir bozunma \u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fc olarak ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yor. 1 ton uranyum cevherinde sadece 0,1 mikrogram kadar \u00e7ok az bulundu\u011fundan, do\u011fadan elde edilemiyor. Ancak n\u00fckleer reakt\u00f6rlerde n\u00f6tronlarla bombard\u0131manla Bizmut 209\u2019dan a\u015fa\u011f\u0131da g\u00f6sterilen atom \u00e7ekirde\u011fi tepkimesiyle elde ediliyor:<\/p>\n<p><sup>209<\/sup>Bi + n \u2014 <sup>210<\/sup>Bi \u2014 <sup>210<\/sup>Po + <em>\u03b2<\/em><em><sup>&#8211;<\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bu yolla d\u00fcnyada \u00fcretilen miktar\u0131n y\u0131lda 100 gram kadar oldu\u011fu kestiriliyor. Rusya\u2019da \u00fcretilen Po 210, bir arac\u0131 \u015firketle ABD\u2019ye sat\u0131l\u0131yor. Rusya Atom Enerjisi kurumu, ayda 8 gram Po 210\u2019u ABD\u2019ye satt\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131kl\u0131yor ve bunun gram\u0131n\u0131n 2 milyon usd oldu\u011fu kestiriliyor. (4) \u0130nsanlar\u0131 zehirlemekten ba\u015fka, uydularda enerji kayna\u011f\u0131 (pil) olarak da kullan\u0131labiliyor. Kaps\u00fcllendi\u011finde, alfa tanecikleri kaps\u00fcl\u00fcn \u00e7eperlerinde tutuldu\u011fundan, d\u0131\u015far\u0131ya ya da v\u00fccuda bir etkisi bulunmuyor. Ancak v\u00fccudun i\u00e7ine girdi\u011finde, ula\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 organ ve h\u00fccrelerde etkisi \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"td_quote_box td_box_center\"><p><strong>Polonyum nas\u0131l bir element ve insan v\u00fccuduna etkisi?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1898\u2019de Marie Curie\u2019nin Fransa\u2019da laboratuvar \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda e\u015fi Piere Curie ile birlikte buldu\u011fu bu elemente, kendisinin anavatan\u0131 olan Polonya\u2019dan esinlenerek polonyum ad\u0131 veriliyor. Marie Curie 1911\u2019de radyumla birlikte yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 bu bulu\u015f ve ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131 nedeniyle Nobel\u2019le \u00f6d\u00fcllendiriyor. Elementler cetvelinde 84 atom numaras\u0131yla yer alan Polonyumun bir dizi radyoizotopu (ayn\u0131 atom numaral\u0131 elementin atom \u00e7ekirde\u011finde farkl\u0131 say\u0131da n\u00f6tron bulunan, farkl\u0131 k\u00fctle numaral\u0131 \u00e7e\u015fitleri) bulunuyor. Bunlardan 138 g\u00fcnl\u00fck yar\u0131lanma s\u00fcresiyle ve b\u00fcy\u00fck k\u00fctleli, 5,3 MeV enerjili alfa \u0131\u015f\u0131nlar\u0131 yay\u0131nlamas\u0131yla Po 210 radyasyon fizi\u011finde \u00f6nemli bir yer tutuyor. Polonyumun v\u00fccuttan normal yollarla at\u0131lmas\u0131yla ilgili olan \u2018biyolojik yar\u0131lanma s\u00fcresi\u2019 ise 50 g\u00fcn. Po 210 alfa \u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 yay\u0131nlay\u0131nca kararl\u0131 (radyoaktif olmayan) kur\u015fun 210\u2019a (Pb 210) d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcyor.<\/p>\n<p>Po 210 v\u00fccuda al\u0131nd\u0131\u011f\u0131nda, yayd\u0131\u011f\u0131 alfalar, h\u00fccrelerin molek\u00fcl ve atomlar\u0131na girerek kinetik enerjilerini bunlara aktar\u0131yorlar ve bulunduklar\u0131 ortamda b\u00fcy\u00fck bir \u0131s\u0131 yay\u0131lmas\u0131na neden oluyorlar (\u00d6rne\u011fin mideye, kor halinde ate\u015f d\u00fc\u015fm\u00fc\u015f gibi mide \u00e7eperini parampar\u00e7a edip i\u00e7 kanamalara yol a\u00e7\u0131yorlar).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doz hesab\u0131<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Litvineko\u2019nun \u00e7ay\u0131na ne kadar Po 210 kat\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 tam olarak bilinmemesine ra\u011fmen 1-10 mikro gram (\u00b5g) kadar oldu\u011fu kestiriliyor. Biz burada, \u00e7ok daha az bir miktar olan 0,1 \u00b5g Po 210 i\u00e7in bir hesaplama yaparak Po 210\u2019nun olu\u015fturdu\u011fu b\u00fcy\u00fck dozu g\u00f6sterece\u011fiz:<\/p>\n<p>Sindirim yoluyla v\u00fccuda al\u0131nan Po 210\u2019nun \u2018etkin doz katsay\u0131s\u0131\u2019 (6) ya da Bq ba\u015f\u0131na ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan radyasyon dozu :<\/p>\n<p>1,2 x10<strong><sup>-6<\/sup><\/strong> Sv\/Bq. Yukar\u0131da belirtilen \u00e7ok y\u00fcksek \u00f6zg\u00fcl radyoaktivitesi ise 1,67&#215;10 <strong><sup>14<\/sup> <\/strong>Bq\/g;<\/p>\n<p>0,1\u00b5g (= 10<strong><sup>-7<\/sup><\/strong> g) Po 210 i\u00e7in \u00f6zg\u00fcl aktivite: 1.7&#215;10<strong><sup>7<\/sup><\/strong> Buradan: 1.7&#215;10<strong><sup>7 <\/sup><\/strong>Bq x 1.2&#215;10<strong><sup>-6 <\/sup><\/strong>Sv\/Bq = 20 Sv bulunur.<\/p>\n<p>E\u011fer Litvinenko\u2019nun v\u00fccuduna 0,1 \u00b5g de\u011fil de bunun 10 kat\u0131 olan 1 \u00b5g Po 210 girdiyse, bu 200 Sv\u2019lik \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck bir doz demektir. 5 Sv\u2019lik \u00e7ok daha d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck bir radyasyon dozu bile, v\u00fccutta k\u0131sa bir s\u00fcrede olu\u015ftu\u011funda y\u00fczde 50 olas\u0131l\u0131kla 30 g\u00fcn i\u00e7inde \u00f6l\u00fcmle sonu\u00e7lan\u0131yor. Bu nedenle Litvinenko\u2019nun v\u00fccudunda olu\u015fan en az\u0131ndan 20 Sv\u2019lik bir dozla, al\u0131nan t\u00fcm t\u0131bbi \u00f6nlemlere ra\u011fmen 3 hafta sonra \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcne neden olundu\u011fu ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yor.<\/p>\n<p>Not: Evlerde, (\u00f6zellikle pek havaland\u0131r\u0131lmayan zeminalt\u0131 katlarda) solunan havadaki do\u011fal radondan radyoaktif bozunmayla t\u00fcreyen Po 210, Po 212, Po 214, Po 216 ve Po 218 radyoizotoplar\u0131n\u0131n yay\u0131nlad\u0131klar\u0131 alfalar\u0131n v\u00fccuda aktard\u0131klar\u0131 enerji yoluyla, y\u0131ll\u0131k do\u011fal radyasyon dozunun yar\u0131s\u0131 kadar\u0131n\u0131 ald\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z\u0131 da burada belirtmeliyiz.
