Yakla\u015f\u0131k 1 mm uzunlu\u011fundaki bu mikroskobik canl\u0131lar ayn\u0131 zamanda uzay ko\u015fullar\u0131nda canl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 s\u00fcrd\u00fcrebilen tek hayvan olmalar\u0131yla biliniyor. \u00dcstelik di\u015fi olanlar\u0131 ya\u015famlar\u0131n\u0131 s\u00fcrd\u00fcrmekle kalmay\u0131p uzay bo\u015flu\u011funa yumurtlayabiliyor! Mutlak s\u0131f\u0131ra \u00e7ok yak\u0131n s\u0131cakl\u0131klarda, \u00e7ok yo\u011fun radyasyon veya bas\u0131n\u00e7 alt\u0131nda bile hayatta kalabilen bu canl\u0131lar, su veya besin almaks\u0131z\u0131n 10 y\u0131la yak\u0131n ya\u015fayabiliyor. Bu derece ilgi \u00e7ekici \u00f6zelliklere sahip olan ve \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fclmeleri neredeyse imk\u00e2ns\u0131z olan tardigradlar uzun zamand\u0131r biliminsanlar\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131na konu oluyordu.<\/p>\n<p>28 Eyl\u00fcl\u2019de PNAS\u2019ta yay\u0131mlanan makaleye g\u00f6re biliminsanlar\u0131, ilk kez tardigradlar\u0131n t\u00fcm genomunu dizilemeyi ba\u015fard\u0131. \u00c7ok da \u015fa\u015f\u0131rt\u0131c\u0131 olmayan a\u00e7\u0131klamalara g\u00f6re, tardigradlar\u0131n genomunun alt\u0131da biri ba\u015fka t\u00fcrlerden \u00e7al\u0131nm\u0131\u015f ve \u015fu ana kadar \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lan hi\u00e7bir hayvan ile benzerlik g\u00f6stermiyor.<\/p>\n<p>Ba\u015fka t\u00fcrden \u00e7al\u0131nan gen veya yabanc\u0131 gen\u00a0 ne demek ve tardigradlarda bu kadar fazla olmas\u0131 neyi g\u00f6steriyor diye d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcyor olabilirsiniz. \u0130lk olarak yabanc\u0131 gen, bir organizman\u0131n di\u011fer organizmalardan yatay gen aktar\u0131m\u0131 denilen bir i\u015flemle ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 genlere verilen isimdir.<\/p>\n<p>Yatay gen aktar\u0131m\u0131 g\u00fcnl\u00fck hayat\u0131m\u0131zda s\u0131k\u00e7a kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z bir durumdur. Bakterilerin antibiyotik direnci kazanmas\u0131, kendi aralar\u0131nda diren\u00e7li geni yatay gen aktar\u0131m\u0131 ile aktarmalar\u0131 sonucu ger\u00e7ekle\u015fir. Rotifer\u2019daki yabanc\u0131 gen miktar\u0131 yakla\u015f\u0131k y\u00fczde 8-9 oran\u0131ndayken, tardigradlarda (su ay\u0131lar\u0131nda) bu oran y\u00fczde 17,5 civar\u0131nda ve 6000 gene tekab\u00fcl ediyor.<\/p>\n<p>Chapel Hill\u2019deki Kuzey Karolina \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nden Bob Goldstein bir hayvandaki yabanc\u0131 gen oran\u0131n\u0131n bu kadar fazla g\u00f6r\u00fclebilece\u011fini daha \u00f6nce hayal bile edemediklerini belirtti.<\/p>\n<p>Yabanc\u0131 DNA\u2019n\u0131n \u00e7o\u011funun kayna\u011f\u0131 bakteriler olsa da, bitkilerden, mantarlardan ve hatta arkelerden gelen genler de mevcut.
