Ger\u00e7eklik dedi\u011fimiz \u015feyi beynimiz kendi in\u015fa ediyor. Ne g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz, duydu\u011fumuz, hissetti\u011fimiz asl\u0131nda ne g\u00f6rmeyi, duymay\u0131 ve hissetmeyi bekledi\u011fimize g\u00f6re \u015fekilleniyor. Bu beklentiler de, daha \u00f6nceki deneyimlerimiz ve haf\u0131zam\u0131z taraf\u0131ndan olu\u015fturuluyor. Ba\u015fka bir deyi\u015fle, \u015fu an g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz bir\u00e7ok \u015fey, beynimizin daha \u00f6nceden faydal\u0131 oldu\u011funa ikna oldu\u011fu tahminlerden ibaret.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bu sene Nisan ay\u0131nda kaybetti\u011fimiz Uruguayl\u0131 yazar Eduardo Galeano <em>Zaman\u0131n A\u011f\u0131zlar\u0131<\/em> kitab\u0131nda bir hik\u00e2yeden bahseder. Hik\u00e2yeye g\u00f6re Ishir yerlilerinin g\u00fcnl\u00fck ya\u015fam\u0131ndan sahneler \u00e7ekmek i\u00e7in gelen belgesel ekibi takip eden yerli bir k\u0131z \u00e7ocu\u011fu vard\u0131r. Yerli k\u0131z y\u00f6netmene \u201c\u015eeyleri ne renkte g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fcz\u00fc bilmek istiyorum\u201d der. Y\u00f6netmen ise \u201cSeninle ayn\u0131 renkte\u201d diyerek cevap verir. Bunun \u00fczerine k\u0131z \u00e7ocu\u011fu \u201cBenim hangi renkte g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fc nereden biliyorsunuz?\u201d diye sorar. G\u00fcnl\u00fck hayat\u0131m\u0131zda da bizler g\u00f6rme sistemimizin kusursuz bir \u015fekilde her \u015feyi t\u00fcm detay\u0131yla kodlad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr\u00fcz. Fakat belirtmek gerekir ki, beynimiz yalanc\u0131 bir organd\u0131r ve her g\u00fcn bize g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz \u201cger\u00e7eklik\u201d hakk\u0131nda yalanlar s\u00f6ylemektedir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00f6rme sistemimiz<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alg\u0131 kuramc\u0131lar\u0131na g\u00f6re, g\u00f6rsel deneyim kavram\u0131 g\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcz\u00fc a\u00e7t\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131z anda bulundu\u011funuz \u00e7evrenin detayl\u0131, net ve renkli temsili olarak tan\u0131mlan\u0131r. Buna enstantane kavram\u0131 da denebilir. G\u00f6rmenin do\u011fas\u0131na dair yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar enstantane kavram\u0131 ile ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Ara\u015ft\u0131rmalarda g\u00f6rsel teorisyenlerin \u00e7\u00f6zmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131klar\u0131 gizem ise, ba\u015f a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 d\u00f6nm\u00fc\u015f, bozulmu\u015f ve birbirinden farkl\u0131 iki retinal g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fc olan retina bilgisinin, nas\u0131l bu kadar \u201cdetayl\u0131\u201d ve \u201czengin\u201d bir enstantane olu\u015fturabildi\u011fi durumudur. Retinada bulunan fotoresept\u00f6rler koniler ve basiller olarak iki gruba ayr\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Bir yere odakland\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda odaklan\u0131lan yerin retinaya d\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc\u011f\u00fc noktaya fovea denir ve koni h\u00fccreleri burada yo\u011fun olarak bulunmaktad\u0131r. Renkli g\u00f6rmekten ve detayl\u0131 i\u015flemeden sorumludurlar. Basiller ise fovea d\u0131\u015f\u0131 alanda yo\u011fun olarak da\u011f\u0131lm\u0131\u015flard\u0131r. Harekete daha duyarl\u0131 olan bu fotoresept\u00f6rler renk g\u00f6remezler. Fotoresept\u00f6rlerle elektriksel sinyali \u00e7evrilmi\u015f uyaran bilgi, retinada \u00f6nce bipolar h\u00fccrelere, ordanda da daha az say\u0131daki gangliyon h\u00fccrelerine iletilir. Birbirleriyle yan yana olan retinal gangliyon h\u00fccrelerinin reseptif alanlar\u0131 da birbirine kom\u015fudur. Bu d\u00fczen korteksteki ileriki i\u015flemlere kadar da korunur. Gangliyon h\u00fccreler arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 ile g\u00f6z\u00fc terk eden bilgi beyinde t\u00fcm duysal girdilerin (koku hari\u00e7) giri\u015f kap\u0131s\u0131 olan talamusun ilgili \u00e7ekirde\u011fine (lateral genikulat n\u00fckleus \u2013 LGN) iletilir. LGN\u2019den beynin arka taraf\u0131nda bulunan oksipital b\u00f6lgedeki birincil g\u00f6rme korteksine gelen elektriksel sinyallerin her biri, uyar\u0131lar\u0131n farkl\u0131 \u00f6zelliklerine (renk, oryantasyon, hareket vb.) ayr\u0131larak i\u015flenir. G\u00f6rsel kortekse ula\u015fan bilgi kortikal i\u015flemleme i\u00e7in iki ayr\u0131 yolu kullan\u0131r. Pariyetal kortekse do\u011fru ilerleyen yola \u201cnerede yolu\u201d denir. Bu yolda hasar\u0131 olan bireylerde mek\u00e2nda ve oryantasyonda sorunlar ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6sterilmi\u015ftir. Temporal kortekse do\u011fru ilerleyen yola ise \u201cne yolu\u201d denir. Bu yolda hasar\u0131 olan ki\u015filerse nesneleri ya da y\u00fczleri tan\u0131makta zorluk ya\u015famaktad\u0131r. G\u00f6z\u00fcn her iki retinas\u0131nda bulunan ve gangliyon h\u00fccrelerin g\u00f6z\u00fc terk ettikleri yer olan k\u00f6r nokta buna bir \u00f6rnektir. K\u00f6r noktalarda g\u00f6ze gelen \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131 alg\u0131layabilecek herhangi bir fotoresept\u00f6r bulunmamaktad\u0131r, fakat biz bu duruma kar\u015f\u0131n g\u00f6rme alan\u0131m\u0131zda herhangi bir bo\u015fluk fark etmeyiz. \u0130ki g\u00f6zde de k\u00f6r noktalar farkl\u0131 yerlerde bulunduklar\u0131 i\u00e7in birbirlerinin eksikli\u011fini tamamlayabilmektedir. Tek g\u00f6zle beyaz bir duvardaki bir noktaya odakland\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda da, g\u00f6rme alan\u0131m\u0131zda bo\u015f bir alan g\u00f6rmeyiz. Sa\u011f g\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcz\u00fc kapay\u0131p sol eliniz ba\u015fparma\u011f\u0131n\u0131 dik tutarak kar\u015f\u0131ya uzatt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131zda ve g\u00f6z hizan\u0131zdaki elimizi g\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcz kar\u015f\u0131daki bir noktaya odaklan\u0131rken yava\u015f yava\u015f sola kayd\u0131rmaya ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131zda belli bir noktada ba\u015fparma\u011f\u0131n\u0131z\u0131 g\u00f6rmemeye ba\u015flars\u0131n\u0131z. Devaml\u0131l\u0131k beynimizin k\u0131s\u0131tl\u0131 bilgiye dayanarak nesneleri bir b\u00fct\u00fcnm\u00fc\u015f gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcnmelerini sa\u011flayan i\u015flemdir. D\u00fcnya, i\u00e7indeki her \u015feyi detayl\u0131ca g\u00f6rebilmek i\u00e7in fazla b\u00fcy\u00fck ve karma\u015f\u0131k, bu y\u00fczden bir kumsaldaki kumlar\u0131n hepsini ayr\u0131 ayr\u0131 alg\u0131layamaz. Retinada bu durum i\u00e7in yeterli say\u0131da h\u00fccre bulunmamaktad\u0131r. Bunun yerine kumsal\u0131n k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcp geri kalan\u0131n\u0131 da tamamlamaktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f\u00fcm\u00fcz\u00fcn y\u00fczde doksan dokuzunun i\u015fe yaramaz hissedilmemesini sa\u011flayan \u015fey g\u00f6z\u00fcm\u00fcz\u00fcn yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 s\u0131\u00e7rama hareketidir. Beynimiz bulan\u0131kla\u015fan hareketi d\u00fczenler ve b\u00f6ylece bize g\u00f6rsel sahnenin detay a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan zengin, sabit gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcnen bir tasvirinin g\u00f6rsel fark\u0131ndal\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 sunar. G\u00f6rme sistemimizdeki n\u00f6ronlar de\u011fi\u015fimi alg\u0131lamak \u00fczere programlanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu sebeple ko\u015fullar\u0131n dura\u011fan oldu\u011fu durumlarda, n\u00f6ronlar\u0131n tepki h\u0131z\u0131 azal\u0131r ve adapte olurlar; b\u00f6ylece beynimiz enerjiden tasarruf eder, fakat bu durumun sonucunda alg\u0131m\u0131z k\u0131s\u0131tlanmaya ba\u015flar. Sabit bir uyaran\u0131 aktif bir \u015fekilde yok sayar ki, de\u011fi\u015fen bir uyarana daha iyi tepki verebilesin. S\u0131\u00e7rama hareketlerinin as\u0131l amac\u0131 g\u00f6rsel sahnedeki bilgileri aray\u0131p toplamas\u0131d\u0131r. Merdivenin kendi etraf\u0131nda daire \u00e7izmesinden ve sonu olmamas\u0131ndan dolay\u0131, asl\u0131nda bu pek de m\u00fcmk\u00fcn bir durum de\u011fil. Resme bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z zaman, resmin sadece odakland\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z taraf\u0131n\u0131 detayl\u0131 olarak i\u015fleyebildi\u011fimiz i\u00e7in g\u00f6rme alan\u0131n\u0131n d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda kalan merdivenler bulan\u0131k olarak kal\u0131yor. Bu y\u00fczden yap\u0131n\u0131n b\u00fct\u00fcn\u00fcndeki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck hatalar\u0131 g\u00f6zden ka\u00e7\u0131rabiliyoruz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rengi renk yapan da beynimiz<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Retinada bulunan konilerin renkleri g\u00f6rmemize imk\u00e2n sa\u011flad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 s\u00f6ylemi\u015ftik. Asl\u0131nda bu fotoresept\u00f6rler sadece \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n belli dalga boyunu g\u00f6rmemizi sa\u011flar, onu renk olarak alg\u0131layan \u015fey bizim beynimizdir. Di\u011fer bir deyi\u015fle renkler tamamen beynimizin bir \u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcd\u00fcr. Alg\u0131lad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z renklerde g\u00f6rebildi\u011fimiz \u0131\u015f\u0131k spektrumu ile ili\u015fkilidir. Nesnelerde, nesnenin bize yans\u0131tt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 alg\u0131lar\u0131z. Yani ye\u015fil bir yapra\u011f\u0131 \u201cye\u015fil\u201d olarak alg\u0131lar\u0131z, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc yaprak b\u00fct\u00fcn mavi ve k\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 dalga boylar\u0131n\u0131 emip sadece ye\u015fil renge kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k gelen dalga boyunu yans\u0131tmaktad\u0131r. Retinada i\u015flenmeye ba\u015flanan renk bilgisi i\u00e7in farkl\u0131 dalga boylar\u0131na tepki veren \u00fc\u00e7 koni bulunmaktad\u0131r. Bu \u00fc\u00e7 fotoresept\u00f6rlerden en az birinin bulunmamas\u0131 durumunda renk k\u00f6rl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ortaya \u00e7\u0131kmaktad\u0131r. B\u00f6yle d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde de renk g\u00f6rme i\u015fi, yaln\u0131zca farkl\u0131 dalga boylar\u0131ndan g\u00f6z\u00fcm\u00fcze gelen \u0131\u015f\u0131nlar\u0131 alg\u0131lamam\u0131z olarak d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclmektedir. Fakat renk alg\u0131lama beynimiz i\u00e7in bu kadar basit bir \u015fekilde olu\u015fmamaktad\u0131r. Renk sabitli\u011finde farkl\u0131 iki dalga boyunun ayn\u0131 renk olarak alg\u0131lanmas\u0131 s\u00f6z konusuyken, renk kar\u015f\u0131tl\u0131\u011f\u0131nda ayn\u0131 dalga boyunun farkl\u0131 iki renk olarak alg\u0131lanmas\u0131 s\u00f6z konusudur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bu elbise ne renk?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yak\u0131n bir zaman \u00f6nce internet fenomenlerinden biri olan \u201cBu elbise ne renk?\u201d ill\u00fczyonunda da benzer bir durum vard\u0131r. Bug\u00fcne kadar ki ill\u00fczyonlardan farkl\u0131 olarak bu ill\u00fczyon bir grup taraf\u0131ndan ya\u015fan\u0131rken di\u011fer grup taraf\u0131ndan ya\u015fanmamaktad\u0131r. Bu ill\u00fczyon i\u00e7in yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar devam etse de, \u00e7e\u015fitli a\u00e7\u0131klamalar bulunmaktad\u0131r. Arkaplan\u0131n etkisi ve renk sabitli\u011fi en \u00e7ok kabul g\u00f6ren a\u00e7\u0131klamalardand\u0131r. Arka plan etkisi a\u00e7\u0131klamas\u0131nda, cisimlerin renklerinin arkaplan rengine g\u00f6re alg\u0131land\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00f6ne s\u00fcr\u00fclmektedir. Kontrast fark\u0131n\u0131n en yo\u011fun oldu\u011fu yeri belirleme de retina seviyesinde olu\u015fmaktad\u0131r. Kesi\u015fim noktalar\u0131na do\u011frudan bak\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131nda ise, koyuluk alg\u0131s\u0131 yok olmaktad\u0131r. Bu alg\u0131n\u0131n nedeni, kesi\u015fim noktalar\u0131nda d\u00f6rt taraftan engelleme ger\u00e7ekle\u015firken, koridor noktalar\u0131nda sadece iki taraftan engellemenin olu\u015fmas\u0131d\u0131r. Bir odada durup sabit bir noktaya bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fczde, g\u00f6rme alan\u0131m\u0131za sol taraftan y\u00fcr\u00fcyerek gelen birinin retinam\u0131zdaki g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcs\u00fc hareket halinde olacakt\u0131r ve nesnenin hareket etti\u011fi anla\u015f\u0131lacakt\u0131r.
