Ancak etraf\u0131m\u0131zdaki s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 say\u0131daki canl\u0131 t\u00fcr\u00fcyle dahi pek \u00e7ok g\u00f6zlem yapabiliriz. Hepimiz bir besin k\u0131r\u0131nt\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 ta\u015f\u0131mak i\u00e7in s\u0131ralanm\u0131\u015f kar\u0131ncalar\u0131n yuvalar\u0131na yiyecek ta\u015f\u0131y\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131, g\u00f6ky\u00fcz\u00fcnde tek bir organizmaym\u0131\u015f gibi hareket eden ku\u015f s\u00fcr\u00fclerini, birisinin havlamas\u0131yla toplanabilen ve birlikte dola\u015fan k\u00f6pek gruplar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015f\u00fczd\u00fcr. Trilyonlarca h\u00fccrenin olu\u015fturdu\u011fu bizler ve g\u00f6zle g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr t\u00fcm canl\u0131lar b\u00fcy\u00fck bir i\u015fbirli\u011finin eseridir. Dahas\u0131 tek tek her h\u00fccremiz bakterilerin i\u015fbirli\u011finden k\u00f6ken al\u0131r. Bu yaz\u0131da ba\u015fka ilgin\u00e7 \u00f6rnekler de aktaraca\u011f\u0131z: Tehlikeleri haber vermek i\u00e7in seslenen hayvanlar\u0131, vampir yarasalar\u0131n emdikleri kanlar\u0131 nas\u0131l payla\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, baz\u0131 kar\u0131nca ve ar\u0131lar\u0131n kolonileri i\u00e7in \u00f6l\u00fcme gidebildi\u011fini, baz\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n ise nas\u0131l \u201c\u00e7ift\u00e7ilik\u201d yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ve Japon makaklar\u0131n\u0131n birbirlerinden patates y\u0131kamay\u0131 \u00f6\u011frendiklerini. As\u0131l sorumuz ise farkl\u0131 d\u00fczeydeki bu i\u015fbirliklerinin nas\u0131l evrilebildi\u011fidir. Bireysel se\u00e7ilime ve do\u011fal se\u00e7ilim kuram\u0131na ters d\u00fc\u015fer g\u00f6z\u00fcken \u00f6zgeci davran\u0131\u015flar\u0131n <strong>grup se\u00e7ilimi<\/strong>, <strong>akraba se\u00e7ilimi<\/strong>, <strong>kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131klama<\/strong> ve <strong>manip\u00fclasyon<\/strong> mekanizmalar\u0131 ile nas\u0131l a\u00e7\u0131kland\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 ele alaca\u011f\u0131z.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rekabet ve \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Canl\u0131lar aras\u0131ndaki rekabet ve \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma olgular\u0131n\u0131 do\u011fru bi\u00e7imde tarif etmeden canl\u0131larda i\u015fbirli\u011finin nas\u0131l evrildi\u011fini anlamam\u0131z m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fil. Canl\u0131lar aras\u0131 rekabeti anlayabilmek i\u00e7in, \u00f6ncelikle canl\u0131lar\u0131n evriminde genetik s\u00fcr\u00fcklenme ile birlikte en \u00f6nemli mekanizma olan do\u011fal se\u00e7ilimle ilgili baz\u0131 temel bilgileri hat\u0131rlamam\u0131z gerekiyor. Gould, Darwin\u2019in <em>T\u00fcrlerin K\u00f6keni<\/em> kitab\u0131ndaki do\u011fal se\u00e7ilim anlat\u0131m\u0131n\u0131 \u015fu \u015fekilde \u00f6zetliyor:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c1) T\u00fcm organizmalar, olas\u0131l\u0131kla hayatta kalabilecek daha fazla yavru \u00fcretmeye e\u011filimlidir. [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2) Yavrular kendi aralar\u0131nda farkl\u0131l\u0131k sergiler ve de\u011fi\u015fmez bir tipin karbon kopyalar\u0131 de\u011fildirler.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c3) Bu varyasyonun hi\u00e7 de\u011filse bir k\u0131sm\u0131 kal\u0131t\u0131m yoluyla gelecek ku\u015faklara aktar\u0131l\u0131r. (Darwin kal\u0131t\u0131m mekanizmalar\u0131n\u0131 bilmiyordu) [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO halde do\u011fal se\u00e7ilim ilkesi bu olgulardan yap\u0131lan zorunlu bir \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131m yoluyla ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c4) \u015eayet \u00e7ok say\u0131da yavru \u00f6lmek zorundaysa (\u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc yavrular\u0131n tamam\u0131 do\u011fan\u0131n s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 ekolojisinde kendilerine yer bulamaz) ve t\u00fcm t\u00fcrler i\u00e7indeki bireyler kendi aralar\u0131nda de\u011fi\u015fiklik g\u00f6steriyorlarsa, o halde (her vakada de\u011fil, istatistiksel bir ifade olarak) ortalama hayatta kalanlar, de\u011fi\u015fen yerel ortamlara tesad\u00fcfen en iyi \u015fekilde uyum g\u00f6steren varyasyona sahip olacak bireyler olacakt\u0131r. Kal\u0131t\u0131m mevcut oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in, hayatta kalanlar\u0131n yavrular\u0131 kendi ba\u015far\u0131l\u0131 ebeveynlerine benzeyecektir. Bu uygun varyantlar\u0131n zaman i\u00e7erisindeki birikimi evrimsel de\u011fi\u015fime yol a\u00e7acakt\u0131r.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Darwin\u2019in, do\u011fal se\u00e7ilim kuram\u0131n\u0131 ortaya atarken, d\u00f6nemin liberal ekonomi anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131ndan etkinlendi\u011fi biliniyor. Ekonomi alan\u0131nda tutars\u0131z kuramlar \u00fcretmesine kar\u015f\u0131n, ayn\u0131 bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131 canl\u0131lar d\u00fcnyas\u0131na analojik olarak uyguland\u0131\u011f\u0131nda tutarl\u0131 bir kuram \u00fcretebilmi\u015ftir. Ancak bu ba\u015far\u0131 \u00f6zellikle pop\u00fcler bilim okuyucular\u0131 aras\u0131nda bug\u00fcne kadar devam eden b\u00fcy\u00fck yanl\u0131\u015f anlamalara neden oldu. \u00d6zellikle do\u011fal se\u00e7ilimin \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma, rekabet, yar\u0131\u015f, sava\u015f gibi s\u00f6zc\u00fcklerle; insan etkinliklerine ait \u00f6rneklerle anlat\u0131lmas\u0131 bu yanl\u0131\u015f anlamay\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fctt\u00fc. Darwin\u2019in do\u011fal se\u00e7ilim kuram\u0131 bireyler aras\u0131 rekabete dayan\u0131r. Ancak buradaki birey ve rekabet insan toplumsall\u0131\u011f\u0131nda tarif edilenlerden farkl\u0131 kavramlard\u0131r. Buradaki birey bakteri, fungi, bitki veya hayvan olsun herhangi bir canl\u0131 t\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcn bir pop\u00fclasyonundaki tekil canl\u0131lard\u0131r. Bireysel se\u00e7ilime dayanan, t\u00fcm canl\u0131lar\u0131n ortak olarak sahip oldu\u011fu rekabet ise kal\u0131t\u0131msal \u00f6zellikleri devam ettiren daha fazla yavru \u00fcretme yetene\u011fi \u00fczerine kuruludur.<\/p>\n<p>Bug\u00fcnk\u00fc bilgilerimizle biyolojik kal\u0131t\u0131m\u0131n genlere dayand\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 biliyoruz. Her ne kadar genler do\u011frudan bir belirlenim sa\u011flamasa da (geli\u015fimsel ve \u00e7evresel etkiler dolay\u0131s\u0131yla) \u00f6zellikle basit yap\u0131daki canl\u0131larda bu rekabeti \u201cgenlerin yayg\u0131nla\u015fma m\u00fccadelesi\u201d olarak g\u00f6rmek \u00e7ok s\u0131k\u0131nt\u0131l\u0131 olmayabilir. Ancak k\u00fclt\u00fcrel evrime sahip canl\u0131lara ve \u00f6zellikle k\u00fclt\u00fcrel evrimin \u00f6tesinde toplumsal belirlenime de sahip olan insana s\u0131ra gelince bu yakla\u015f\u0131m\u0131 uygulayamayaca\u011f\u0131m\u0131z\u0131 unutmayal\u0131m.<\/p>\n<p>Buradaki rekabet t\u00fcr i\u00e7inde fiziksel bir kavgay\u0131 gerektirmez. \u00d6rne\u011fin; ormandaki bir a\u011fa\u00e7 t\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcn i\u00e7erisindeki bir bireyde onu daha uzun k\u0131l\u0131p G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019ten daha fazla yararlanmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayacak bir mutasyon mevcutsa, o a\u011fa\u00e7 kazand\u0131\u011f\u0131 fazladan enerjiyle daha fazla tohum sa\u00e7abiliyorsa, t\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcn di\u011fer \u00fcyelerine g\u00f6re \u00fcreme a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan daha avantajl\u0131 olacakt\u0131r. Bu da yeni geni ta\u015f\u0131yan birey say\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 nesiller i\u00e7inde art\u0131racakt\u0131r. Ekolojik s\u0131n\u0131rlar gere\u011fi yavrular\u0131n bir k\u0131sm\u0131 hayatta kalabilece\u011fi i\u00e7in yeni \u00f6zellik zaman i\u00e7erisinde egemen bir kal\u0131t\u0131m olabilir ve eski kal\u0131t\u0131m tamamen ortadan kalkabilir.<\/p>\n<p>Hayvanlar ise genellikle bitkiler ve(ya) o bitkilerle beslenen di\u011fer canl\u0131larla beslendikleri evrimsel s\u00fcre\u00e7lerinde hareket yeteneklerini art\u0131rm\u0131\u015flard\u0131r. Bu y\u00fczden rekabet, \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma halini alabilmekte, \u00e7at\u0131\u015farak rakipleri devre d\u0131\u015f\u0131 b\u0131rakmak do\u011fal se\u00e7ilimsel bir \u00fcreme avantaj\u0131 yaratmaktad\u0131r. Hayvanlardaki \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma belirli kategorilere ayr\u0131labilir. <strong>S\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 yiyecek \u00fczerine \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma<\/strong>, <strong>e\u015f \u00fczerine \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma<\/strong>, <strong>ebeveyn ve yavru aras\u0131ndaki \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma<\/strong> en ba\u015fa yaz\u0131lmas\u0131 gereken kategorilerdir. Daha fazla yiyecek, daha b\u00fcy\u00fck ya\u015fama \u015fans\u0131 ve dolay\u0131s\u0131yla daha fazla \u00fcreme imk\u00e2n\u0131 sa\u011flayaca\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in bu \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma davran\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 ortaya \u00e7\u0131karan genlerin se\u00e7ilecek olmas\u0131 kolayl\u0131kla anla\u015f\u0131labilir. Di\u011fer ba\u015fl\u0131klar ise daha karma\u015f\u0131kt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E\u015feysel se\u00e7ilim<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>E\u015feyli \u00fcremenin canl\u0131larda adaptasyon h\u0131z\u0131n\u0131 art\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in evrildi\u011fi d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclmektedir. Ancak bu ayn\u0131 zamanda \u00fcreme i\u00e7in yap\u0131lan rekabeti ba\u015fka bir boyuta da ta\u015f\u0131maktad\u0131r. Rekabet art\u0131k e\u015fler i\u00e7in yap\u0131lan \u00e7at\u0131\u015fmaya ve(ya) e\u015flere kendini se\u00e7tirme rekabetine de d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. Bunun en temel nedeni di\u015filerin g\u00f6rece az say\u0131da yumurta \u00fcretirken, erkeklerin \u00e7ok say\u0131da k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck sperm \u00fcretmesi \u00fczerine kurulu gamet dimorfizmidir (farkl\u0131la\u015fma). E\u015feysel \u00e7at\u0131\u015fma en \u00e7ok bu dimorfizme sahip canl\u0131larda g\u00f6zlenir. Erkek birden fazla di\u015fiyi d\u00f6lleyebilirken, di\u015fi yumurtas\u0131 potansiyel olarak tek bir spermi yani tek bir erke\u011fi kabul edebilir. Bu di\u015fileri erkekler a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131, erkekleri di\u015filer i\u00e7in geni\u015f bir kaynak haline getirmektedir.
