Roger Bacon bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fleriyle ve daha ba\u015fka g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fleriyle kilisenin anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131na ters d\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc\u011f\u00fc i\u00e7in 1277\u2019den sonra on be\u015f y\u0131l hapis yatt\u0131, bu arada yeni bilim d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesine giden ve Francis Bacon\u2019\u0131 (1561-1626) getirecek olan ayd\u0131nl\u0131\u011f\u0131n yolu a\u00e7t\u0131. Francis Bacon\u2019\u0131 yeni bilim kavray\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131n ilk ger\u00e7ek temellendiricisi saymak yanl\u0131\u015f olmaz. Kendine s\u00f6z m\u00fc ge\u00e7iremediyse her zaman garip i\u015fler yapt\u0131, ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131yla \u00e7ok a\u011f\u0131r ele\u015ftirildi. Kitaplar onun bir bilgin olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, \u00e7a\u011f\u0131n\u0131n g\u00f6kbilimine oldu\u011fu gibi kan dola\u015f\u0131m\u0131yla ilgili bulu\u015flara da kar\u015f\u0131 \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 yazarlar. Filozoflar genellikle ussall\u0131\u011f\u0131n a\u011f\u0131r bast\u0131\u011f\u0131 bir d\u00fcnyada dar bir \u00e7er\u00e7evede ya\u015farlar. Felsefenin uzun tarihinde bir filozof a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131yla bir tutars\u0131z insan hafifli\u011fini yan yana getirebilmi\u015f ikinci bir ki\u015filik bulmak zordur. Andr\u00e9 Cresson <em>Francis Bacon <\/em>adl\u0131 yap\u0131t\u0131nda \u0130ngilizlerin ilk zamanlar Bacon\u2019\u0131 pek az okudu\u011funu yazar. Ba\u015f\u0131ndan ge\u00e7en yak\u0131\u015f\u0131ks\u0131z olaylar buna neden olmu\u015f olabilir mi? Bug\u00fcn\u00fcn bir\u00e7ok g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc \u00fcniversitesi o d\u00f6nemin topra\u011f\u0131nda do\u011fmu\u015f ve b\u00fcy\u00fcm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. Ona g\u00f6re Yunanl\u0131lar her anlamda \u00e7ocuktular, do\u011fay\u0131 \u00e7ocuklar gibi g\u00f6zlemlediler. \u201cSonu\u00e7 olarak, \u00e7ocuklar\u0131m, b\u00fct\u00fcn bu soyut filozoflar\u0131 b\u0131rakal\u0131m, yaln\u0131zca \u015feylere ba\u011flanal\u0131m, bir inan\u00e7 toplulu\u011fu kurman\u0131n onurunu aramayal\u0131m, ciddi ciddi insan\u0131n zenginli\u011fiyle ve b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcyle ilgilenelim. Felsefe olmayan felsefelerden s\u00f6zeder.<\/p>\n<p>Felsefe olmayan felsefeler sofistlikle deneysellikle ve bo\u015finan\u00e7larla ilgili felsefelerdir. Sofistlikle ilgili felsefelerin ba\u015f\u0131nda Aristoteles felsefesi gelir. Bu felsefe mant\u0131\u011f\u0131yla t\u00fcm do\u011fal felsefeyi yerle bir etmi\u015ftir. Anaksagoras gibi Leukippos gibi Demokritos gibi Herakleitos gibi filozoflar ger\u00e7ek anlamda deneye ve ger\u00e7ekli\u011fe daha yak\u0131n filozoflard\u0131r. Buna kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k Aristoteles\u2019in fizi\u011fe bak\u0131\u015f\u0131 hep sa\u011fl\u0131ks\u0131z ya da yetersiz olmu\u015f ve o mant\u0131\u011fa tak\u0131l\u0131p kalm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Aristoteles hi\u00e7bir ger\u00e7ekli\u011fe dayanmayan genel ilkeler belirliyor, deneye ba\u015fvurmay\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnmeden deneyle ilgili ilkeler sapt\u0131yordu ve bu yan\u0131yla sonraki zamanlar\u0131n skolastiklerini and\u0131r\u0131yordu. Deneycilere gelince onlar\u0131n felsefesi de Aristoteles\u2019inkinden daha verimli de\u011fildi, onlar\u0131n deneycilikleri son derece dar ve karanl\u0131kt\u0131. Bu felsefelerin en k\u00f6t\u00fcleri bo\u015finan\u00e7lara dayanan felsefelerdir. \u00d6rne\u011fin Pythagoras\u2019\u0131n felsefesi son derece kaba, Platon\u2019un felsefesi son derece tehlikelidir. Bacon\u2019\u0131n bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fleri felsefi kavray\u0131\u015ftan yoksun g\u00f6r\u00fcnen ve felsefe tarihi kavray\u0131\u015f\u0131na epeyce uzak d\u00fc\u015fen g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015flerdir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00d6vg\u00fcler ve yergiler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Francis Bacon da her b\u00fcy\u00fck insan gibi g\u00fcn oldu \u00f6v\u00fcld\u00fc g\u00fcn oldu yerildi. Yeni de\u011ferler a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan d\u00fcnyaya bakanlar onu kendilerine yak\u0131n buldular, yenili\u011fe kar\u015f\u0131 olanlar onu hi\u00e7 sevmediler. Bacon\u2019\u0131 en \u00e7ok \u00f6ven Leibniz oldu, onu \u201ctanr\u0131sal dehas\u0131 olan insan\u201d diye nitelendirdi. Andr\u00e9 Cresson, d\u2019Alembert\u2019in<em> Ansiklopedi<\/em>\u2019de onun i\u00e7in yazd\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u015fu sat\u0131rlar\u0131 bize ta\u015f\u0131r: \u201cBu se\u00e7kin ki\u015filiklerin ba\u015f\u0131na \u0130ngiltere\u2019nin \u00f6l\u00fcms\u00fcz \u015fans\u00f6lyesi Bacon\u2019\u0131 yerle\u015ftirmek gerekir. Onun tan\u0131nmayan yap\u0131tlar\u0131 ger\u00e7ekten sayg\u0131yla kar\u015f\u0131lanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r, bununla birlikte onlar bizim sayg\u0131m\u0131za yara\u015f\u0131r olmaktan \u00e7ok bizden okunmay\u0131 bekleyen yap\u0131tlard\u0131r. Bu b\u00fcy\u00fck insan\u0131n sa\u011fl\u0131kl\u0131 ve geni\u015f bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6z \u00f6n\u00fcne ald\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda, d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesinin y\u00f6neldi\u011fi \u00e7e\u015fitli konular\u0131, her yerde en ince imgeleri en kesin belirginlikte bir araya getiren \u00fcslubunu g\u00f6z \u00f6n\u00fcne ald\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda onu felsefe d\u00fcnyas\u0131n\u0131n en b\u00fcy\u00fck en evrensel en incelikli ki\u015fisi olarak g\u00f6rebiliriz.\u201d Buna kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k Joseph de Maistre Bacon\u2019la ilgili bir yap\u0131t\u0131nda filozofu zaman\u0131n\u0131n bilginlerini hi\u00e7 tan\u0131mayan, bilimler i\u00e7in \u00f6ne s\u00fcrd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc y\u00f6ntemle ilgili hi\u00e7bir bilgisi olmayan, g\u00f6kbilimden fizikten kimyadan ve benzeri alanlardan s\u00f6zederken yanl\u0131\u015f \u00fcst\u00fcne yanl\u0131\u015f yapan biri diye g\u00f6sterir. Ussall\u0131\u011f\u0131n tek ba\u015f\u0131na yeterli olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, onun yan\u0131na y\u00f6ntemi koymak gerekti\u011fini bildirirdi. <em>Organon<\/em>\u2019dan <em>Novum organum<\/em>\u2019a ge\u00e7i\u015f salt ussal d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceden ussal ve y\u00f6ntemli d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceye bu arada g\u00f6zleme ve deneye ge\u00e7i\u015ftir. \u0130lerde Descartes\u2019\u0131n da yapaca\u011f\u0131 gibi Bacon skolastiklerle kesin bir hesapla\u015fmaya giri\u015fti. O \u00f6zellikle bir ele\u015ftiriciydi. \u0130nsanc\u0131lar\u0131 ele\u015ftiriyordu: bilimi edebiyata indirgeyen insanlar olarak g\u00f6r\u00fcyordu onlar\u0131. Sklolastikleri ele\u015ftiriyordu, onlar\u0131n \u201cbedenlerini h\u00fccreye kapat\u0131r gibi ruhlar\u0131n\u0131 Aristoteles\u2019e kapatm\u0131\u015f\u201d kimseler olduklar\u0131na inan\u0131yordu. Ayr\u0131ca Bacon\u2019\u0131n hi\u00e7bir bulu\u015fu yoktur demek kolay de\u011fildir: o hi\u00e7bir \u015fey yapmad\u0131ysa y\u00f6ntemsiz bilim olamayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6stermi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deneyle kuram\u0131n bir araya getirilmesi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skolastik felsefe \u00e7oklar\u0131na g\u00f6re neredeyse ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131 yerde bitmi\u015f verimsiz bir d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceydi. Bacon \u00f6zellikle b\u00f6yle d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcyordu. Ger\u00e7ekten skolastikler ne kuramsal d\u00fczeyde ne uygulama d\u00fczeyinde herhangi bir yenilik getirebildiler. Hi\u00e7bir zaman yenilik pe\u015finde olmad\u0131lar. Bu d\u00fcnyayla de\u011fil do\u011fa\u00fcst\u00fcyle u\u011fra\u015f\u0131yorlard\u0131, bilgiyi aram\u0131yorlar dogmalar\u0131 savunuyorlard\u0131. Kendisinden epeyce gen\u00e7 olan Descartes\u2019la birlikte yeni d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin yolunu a\u00e7m\u0131\u015f olan Bacon \u015f\u00f6yle der: \u201cDo\u011fan\u0131n en uzak ve en gizli par\u00e7alar\u0131na ula\u015fabilmek i\u00e7in insan anl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kesinlikle en sa\u011flam ve en yetkin bi\u00e7imde etkin k\u0131lacak bir yol bulmak gerekir.\u201d Bu yolda Bacon ilerde Descartes\u2019\u0131n da yapaca\u011f\u0131 gibi Aristoteles\u2019den kalma sonu\u00e7sal neden kavram\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin d\u0131\u015f\u0131na \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131r. Aristoteles\u2019in d\u00f6rt nedeninden biri olan sonu\u00e7sal neden daha \u00e7ok dinci bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n tanr\u0131sall\u0131\u011f\u0131n ama\u00e7lar\u0131yla ilgili yan\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131lar. Bacon insan anl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 tam anlam\u0131nda etkin bir yeti olarak d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr, ama o iyi kullan\u0131lmad\u0131\u011f\u0131nda bizi a\u00e7mazlara g\u00f6t\u00fcrebilir, sonu\u00e7sal nedenlerin bata\u011f\u0131na s\u00fcr\u00fckleyebilir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u0130nsan anl\u0131\u011f\u0131 durmak bilmez. Bu s\u00f6zler yeni bilimsel kavray\u0131\u015f\u0131n anayasas\u0131 gibidir:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo\u011fan\u0131n hizmet\u00e7isi ve yorumcusu olan insan do\u011fa yasalar\u0131 \u00fczerindeki deneysel ve ussal bulu\u015flar\u0131 \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcs\u00fcnde eylemde bulunur ve anlar, bunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda o hi\u00e7bir \u015fey bilemez ve yapamaz. Ne tek ba\u015f\u0131na elin ne kendi haline b\u0131rak\u0131lm\u0131\u015f d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin bir g\u00fcc\u00fc vard\u0131r. Do\u011fay\u0131 ancak ona ba\u015fe\u011ferek ele ge\u00e7irebiliriz, d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncede neden olan \u015fey uygulamada kural olur.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Francis Bacon \u00f6nc\u00fcleri diyebilece\u011fimiz Roger Bacon\u2019\u0131n ve Occam\u2019l\u0131 William\u2019\u0131n deneyci \u00e7izgisini s\u00fcrd\u00fcrerek \u0130ngiltere\u2019de deneyci gelene\u011fin ilk b\u00fcy\u00fck temellendiricisi oldu. Ancak onun deneycili\u011fi daha \u00f6nce g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz gibi us\u00e7ulukla dengelenen bir deneyciliktir.
