Muhtemel bir a\u00e7\u0131klama, so\u011fuk gaz\u0131n y\u0131ld\u0131zlara d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fmeden \u00f6nce, galaksiden uzak, k\u00fcmedeki s\u0131cak, yo\u011fun gaz\u0131n d\u0131\u015f k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131n \u201csoyulmu\u015f\u201d oldu\u011funu ve y\u0131ld\u0131z olu\u015fumunun durmas\u0131na neden oldu\u011funu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fcrmektedir.<\/p>\n<p>Bir ba\u015fka olas\u0131l\u0131k da galaksilerin \u201cbo\u011fulmas\u0131\u201d durumudur. Bu da y\u0131ld\u0131zlar\u0131 olu\u015fturmay\u0131 b\u0131rakmalar\u0131 anlam\u0131na geliyor, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc rezervlerini k\u00fcmenin i\u00e7ine girdiklerinde ek so\u011fuk gazla dolduruyorlar. Bunun, soyulma i\u015fleminden daha yava\u015f bir s\u00fcre\u00e7 oldu\u011fu tahmin ediliyor.<\/p>\n<p>\u00dc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc bir olas\u0131l\u0131k ise, y\u0131ld\u0131z olu\u015fumundan gelen enerjinin, galaksiden uzakta so\u011fuk gaz yak\u0131t\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7o\u011funu harekete ge\u00e7irmesi ve yeni y\u0131ld\u0131zlar\u0131n olu\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 engellemesidir. Bu \u201cs\u0131z\u0131nt\u0131\u201d senaryosunun, soyulma i\u015fleminden daha h\u0131zl\u0131 bir zaman \u00e7izelgesinde ger\u00e7ekle\u015fece\u011fi tahmin edilmektedir, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc gaz\u0131n galakside sonsuza dek kaybolmas\u0131 ve yeni y\u0131ld\u0131zlar olu\u015fturmak i\u00e7in kullan\u0131lmamas\u0131 gerekecektir.<\/p>\n<p>Bu \u00fc\u00e7 farkl\u0131 fiziksel s\u00fcre\u00e7, galaksileri evrenin tarihi boyunca farkl\u0131 g\u00f6receli zaman dilimleri \u00fczerinde s\u00f6nd\u00fcrmeyi \u00f6ng\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc i\u00e7in, astronomlar, uzun bir zaman temel \u00e7izgisinde g\u00f6zlemlenen s\u00f6nm\u00fc\u015f g\u00f6kadalar\u0131n say\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131rabilirlerse, y\u0131ld\u0131zlar\u0131n s\u00f6nmelerine yol a\u00e7an ba\u015fat s\u00fcre\u00e7 daha kolay anla\u015f\u0131l\u0131r hale gelecektir.<\/p>\n<p>Ancak yak\u0131n zamana kadar uzak k\u00fcmeleri bulmak \u00e7ok zordu ve galaksilerin \u00f6zelliklerini \u00f6l\u00e7mek daha da zordu. Red-sequence K\u00fcme Ara\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131\u2019n\u0131n ya da SpARCS&#8217;nin uluslararas\u0131 Spitzer Adaptasyonu, art\u0131k uzak evrendeki y\u00fczlerce k\u00fcmenin yeni ke\u015ffinin yap\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayan yeni k\u00fcmelenme-alg\u0131lama tekniklerinin \u00f6nc\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc yaparak, evrenin tarihinin y\u00fczde 70&#8217;inden fazlas\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcyor.<\/p>\n<p>Yeni ke\u015ffedilen SpARCS k\u00fcmelerinin baz\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131 kullan\u0131larak, UCR taraf\u0131ndan y\u00f6netilen yeni \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma, evren ya\u015fland\u0131k\u00e7a y\u0131ld\u0131z olu\u015fturmay\u0131 durdurmak i\u00e7in daha geni\u015f bir galaksiyi ele ge\u00e7irdi\u011fini ke\u015ffetti: evren gen\u00e7ken (4 milyar ya\u015f\u0131nda) sadece 1,1 milyar y\u0131ll\u0131kt\u0131, evren orta ya\u015fl\u0131yken (6 milyar y\u0131l) 1.3 milyar y\u0131ll\u0131kt\u0131 ve g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz evreninde 5 milyar y\u0131ll\u0131kt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Foltz \u015funlar\u0131 s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor: \u201cUzak evrende bulunan k\u00fcmelerdeki g\u00f6kadalar\u0131n s\u00f6nme zaman \u00e7izelgelerinin g\u00f6zlemlerini, yak\u0131n evrende bulunanlarla kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131rmak, gaz soyulmas\u0131 gibi dinamik bir s\u00fcrecin, tahminlere bo\u011fulmalardan veya s\u0131z\u0131nt\u0131lardan daha iyi oldu\u011funu ortaya \u00e7\u0131kard\u0131.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bu son teknolojik \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm\u00fc yapmak, SpARCS ekibi Hawai&#8217;deki WM Keck G\u00f6zlemevi teleskoplar\u0131yla (10 metre \u00e7ap\u0131nda) 10 gece g\u00f6zlem yapmas\u0131n\u0131 ve \u015eili&#8217;deki ikiz Gemini teleskoplar\u0131yla (8 metre \u00e7ap\u0131nda) 25 gece g\u00f6zlem yap\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 gerektirdi.<\/p>\n<p>UCR&#8217;de fizik ve astronomi profes\u00f6r\u00fc ve Foltz\u2019un \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 laboratuvarda yap\u0131lan SpARCS ara\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131n\u0131n lideri olan Gillian Wilson \u015funlar\u0131 s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor: \u201cBu g\u00f6zlemevlerinde yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalara yap\u0131lan ola\u011fan\u00fcst\u00fc yat\u0131r\u0131m sayesinde, y\u0131ld\u0131z olu\u015fumunun k\u00fcmelerdeki en b\u00fcy\u00fck g\u00f6kadalarda nas\u0131l durdu\u011funa dair iyi bir fikre sahip oldu\u011fumuza inan\u0131yoruz.
