Her ne kadar bilim ve teknolojideki geli\u015fmeler depremle ilgili bir\u00e7ok bilinmezi art\u0131k g\u00fcn y\u00fcz\u00fcne \u00e7\u0131karm\u0131\u015f olsa da; do\u011fan\u0131n bu \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fcc\u00fc tehdidi g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde kitlesel \u00f6l\u00fcmlere yol a\u00e7maya devam ediyor. Depremin en \u00e7ok korkulan do\u011fa olaylar\u0131ndan biri olmas\u0131, bu nedenle tesad\u00fcf de\u011fil.<\/p>\n<p>Peki depremin nas\u0131l olu\u015ftu\u011funa ili\u015fkin ne kadar bilgi sahibiyiz? Kulaktan dolma bilgilerimizi bir kenara b\u0131rakacak olursak \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck bir \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011fumuz, \u00e7ok s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 miktarda bilimsel bilgiye sahip. Haluk Eyido\u011fan, a\u015fa\u011f\u0131da aktard\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z, <a href=\"https:\/\/kitaplik.bilimvegelecek.com.tr\/product\/50-soruda-deprem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>50 Soruda Deprem<\/em><\/a> (1) kitab\u0131ndaki b\u00f6l\u00fcmde, olduk\u00e7a anla\u015f\u0131l\u0131r ve \u00f6z bir \u015fekilde deprem ve fay konusunda bizi bilgilendiriyor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cTektonik deprem (deprem) ve fay nedir, nas\u0131l olu\u015fur?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cG\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde, deprem konusundan s\u00f6z edilirken genellikle ifade edilmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lan tektonik depremdir. (\u2026) tektonik levhalar\u0131n hareketlerinin yaratt\u0131\u011f\u0131 kuvvetler, levha s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131nda ve yak\u0131n \u00e7evrelerinde yerkabu\u011funun \u015fekil de\u011fi\u015ftirmesine ve dolay\u0131s\u0131yla yerkabu\u011funun bu s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131nda a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 gerilme* birikimlerine yol a\u00e7ar. Bu gerilmeler kayalar\u0131n dayanma g\u00fcc\u00fcn\u00fc a\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131nda, ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen s\u00fcrt\u00fcnmeli tektonik k\u0131r\u0131lma (tektonik faylanma), (\u015eekil 1), tektonik depremleri yarat\u0131r. Faylar tektonik hareketlerin yerkabu\u011funda olu\u015fturdu\u011fu s\u0131k\u0131\u015fma, \u00e7ekme veya makaslama kuvvetlerinin etkisiyle \u00e7e\u015fitli \u015fekillerde geli\u015fir. Levha s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131nda ve fay ku\u015faklar\u0131nda bu d\u00f6ng\u00fc jeolojik zaman dilimi i\u00e7erisinde s\u00fcrer ve depremlerin olu\u015fmas\u0131na neden olur. Bu olu\u015fum d\u00f6ng\u00fcseldir, ancak periyodik (ayn\u0131 zaman aral\u0131kl\u0131) de\u011fildir. 1) Deprem \u00f6ncesi gerilme en az; 2) Deprem \u00f6ncesi, gerilme en fazla; 3) Deprem an\u0131, fay olu\u015fur; 4) Deprem sonras\u0131, gerilme tekrar en aza iner. 4. a\u015faman\u0131n sonundan bir s\u00fcre sonra, yeniden 1. a\u015faman\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131na gelinir ve diri fay ku\u015faklar\u0131nda bu d\u00f6ng\u00fc s\u00fcrer gider.(3) D\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc \u015fekildeki taral\u0131 alan fay d\u00fczlemidir. Bu d\u00fczlemin yatay y\u00f6ndeki uzunlu\u011funa fay boyu (L), d\u00fc\u015fey y\u00f6ndeki uzan\u0131m\u0131na ise fay geni\u015fli\u011fi (W) ad\u0131 verilir. Fay boyu ile deprem b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc aras\u0131nda Log L ile ili\u015fkili do\u011frusal bir ba\u011flant\u0131 vard\u0131r.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFay\u0131n tektonik gerilmeler etkisinde olu\u015fumu 1910\u2019da ilk kez Reid taraf\u0131ndan a\u00e7\u0131klanan \u201cesnek serbestlenme (elastic rebound) mekanizmas\u0131\u201d ile tart\u0131\u015f\u0131lmaya ba\u015flanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.(43) O g\u00fcnden bu yana depremin olu\u015f mekanizmas\u0131, deprembilimin en \u00e7ok tart\u0131\u015f\u0131lan, g\u00f6zlemler yap\u0131lan ve fiziksel modeller \u00f6nerilen konusu olmu\u015ftur. Depremler \u00e7o\u011funlukla \u00f6nceden var olan bir aktif fay taraf\u0131ndan \u00fcretilir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTektonik depremler bilinen veya var olup da g\u00f6zlenemeyen aktif fay ku\u015faklar\u0131 \u00fczerinde, kesinli\u011fi tam olarak bilinemeyen \u00e7e\u015fitli zaman aral\u0131klar\u0131nda yinelenir. \u015eekil 1\u2019de g\u00f6sterilen d\u00f6rt a\u015famal\u0131 faylanma olu\u015fum s\u00fcreci, yerkabu\u011funun tektonik kuvvetler alt\u0131nda kald\u0131\u011f\u0131nda bir depremi nas\u0131l olu\u015fturdu\u011funu sergilemektedir. Birinci a\u015famada, daha \u00f6nce olu\u015fan ancak bir s\u00fcre kilitlenen (b\u00fcy\u00fck deprem \u00fcretmeyen) fay\u0131n her iki yan\u0131ndaki yerkabu\u011fu bloklar\u0131 tektonik hareketler nedeniyle gerilme y\u00fcklemesine maruz kalmaya ba\u015flar. \u0130kinci a\u015famada gerilmenin artmas\u0131 nedeniyle yerkabu\u011funda deformasyon** (\u015fekil de\u011fi\u015ftirme) ba\u015flar. S\u00fcresini tam olarak kestiremedi\u011fimiz bu ikinci a\u015faman\u0131n sonunda yerkabu\u011fu tektonik hareket y\u00fcklemesine dayanamaz ve \u00fc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc a\u015famaya ge\u00e7er, yani daha \u00f6nceki veya yeni bir fay ku\u015fa\u011f\u0131 \u00fczerinde k\u0131r\u0131lma ba\u015flar ve depremi yarat\u0131r. Depremin ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131 noktaya odak (i\u00e7 merkez veya hiposant\u0131r) denir. Bu merkezin yery\u00fcz\u00fcndeki izd\u00fc\u015f\u00fcm\u00fcne d\u0131\u015f merkez veya episant\u0131r ad\u0131 verilir. Bu a\u015fama s\u00fcrecin en k\u0131sa s\u00fcreli d\u00f6nemidir, yani depremin oldu\u011fu ve \u00e7evresini sallad\u0131\u011f\u0131 zaman aral\u0131\u011f\u0131d\u0131r. Depremin oldu\u011fu anda, fay \u00fczerinde biriken \u015fekil de\u011fi\u015ftirme veya yamulma enerjisi, h\u0131zla kinetik enerjiye d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcr; fay olu\u015fur, fay\u0131n her iki taraf\u0131ndaki yerkabu\u011fu par\u00e7alar\u0131 (fay bloklar\u0131) z\u0131t y\u00f6nlerde yer de\u011fi\u015ftirir. (\u015eekil 2) Bu yer de\u011fi\u015ftirmeye fay\u0131n at\u0131m\u0131 (ofset) ve yer de\u011fi\u015ftirmesi denir. Fay\u0131n olu\u015fumu s\u0131ras\u0131nda a\u00e7\u0131\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kan kinetik deprem enerjisi sismik dalgalarla \u00e7evreye yay\u0131l\u0131r.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30926\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30926\" style=\"width: 596px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30926 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bilimvegelecek.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/izmit-tepetarla-fay.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bilimvegelecek.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/izmit-tepetarla-fay.jpg 596w, https:\/\/bilimvegelecek.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/izmit-tepetarla-fay-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30926\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>\u015eekil 2.<\/strong> 17 A\u011fustos 1999 Kocaeli depremini olu\u015fturan fay\u0131n \u0130zmit, Tepetarla Mevkii\u2019nde tren yoluna dik y\u00f6nde ge\u00e7mesi sonucunda, fay\u0131n (beyaz \u00e7izgili hat) neden oldu\u011fu sa\u011f y\u00f6nl\u00fc yer de\u011fi\u015ftirmenin raylarda yaratt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00f6teleme. Fay \u00e7izgisinin her iki yan\u0131ndaki yerkabu\u011fu par\u00e7alar\u0131 z\u0131t y\u00f6nde kaym\u0131\u015f (faylanm\u0131\u015f), dolay\u0131s\u0131yla raylarda 3 m\u2019lik bir \u00f6telemeye neden olmu\u015flard\u0131r. Bu yer de\u011fi\u015ftirmeye fay\u0131n at\u0131m\u0131 denir.(4) Fay\u0131n arazi ve m\u00fchendislik yap\u0131lar\u0131 \u00fczerindeki bu etkisi, depremin do\u011frudan etkisi olarak tan\u0131mlan\u0131r.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cB\u00fcy\u00fck deprem olu\u015fumlar\u0131ndan hemen sonra fay\u0131n olu\u015ftu\u011fu b\u00f6lgede, yerkabu\u011funun \u00fczerinde kalan <strong>art\u0131k yamulma enerjisi<\/strong> zaman i\u00e7erisinde say\u0131s\u0131 ve b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc azalan ufak depremlerle a\u00e7\u0131\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kar. \u015eiddetli depremler sonras\u0131 olu\u015fan bu depremlere art\u00e7\u0131 depremler veya art\u00e7\u0131 \u015foklar ad\u0131 verilir. D\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc a\u015fama ise, yerkabu\u011funun \u00fczerindeki yamulma enerjisini tamamen bo\u015faltt\u0131\u011f\u0131, dolay\u0131s\u0131yla gelecekte yeniden yamulma enerjisi birikecek d\u00f6nemdir. D\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc a\u015faman\u0131n sonu birinci a\u015faman\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131d\u0131r. Yukarda tan\u0131mlanan esnek serbestlenme s\u00fcreci, belirgin fay ku\u015faklar\u0131nda depremlerin yinelenebilece\u011fini g\u00f6stermektedir. Ancak bu yinelenme aral\u0131\u011f\u0131 periyodik de\u011fildir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde fay ku\u015faklar\u0131 \u00fczerinde ve hatta faylar\u0131n derinliklerine do\u011fru a\u00e7\u0131lan derin sondajlarda yap\u0131lan \u00e7ok y\u00f6nl\u00fc jeofizik \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcmlere ra\u011fmen, depremin olu\u015fma an\u0131n\u0131 kesin olarak \u00f6nceden belirleyemiyoruz. Ancak, eskiye oranla deprem kayna\u011f\u0131ndaki s\u00fcre\u00e7leri daha iyi izleme ve anlama yolunda bilgilerimiz her g\u00fcn biraz daha art\u0131yor.
