Beyin ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131nda ve tedavide kullan\u0131lan n\u00f6ral problar da hedef alt\u0131ndaki yabanc\u0131 nesneler s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131na girer; bu nedenle fazla uzun \u00f6m\u00fcrl\u00fc olduklar\u0131 s\u00f6ylenemez. Fakat yenilerde ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar beynin istilac\u0131y\u0131 ay\u0131rt edemeyece\u011fi, tam da ger\u00e7ek bir sinir h\u00fccresi gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcnen, davranan ve hisseden bir prob tasarlad\u0131lar. Harvard \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nden Charles M. Lieber\u2019e g\u00f6re bu yenilik \u201cinsan yap\u0131m\u0131 sistemlerle canl\u0131 sistemler aras\u0131nda daima mevcut olan farkl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131 kelimenin ger\u00e7ek anlam\u0131yla bulan\u0131kla\u015ft\u0131r\u0131yor.\u201d Yani insanla makineler aras\u0131ndaki \u00e7izginin silikle\u015fti\u011fi bir an bu\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u0130nsan biyolojisinden esinlenerek tasarlanan n\u00f6ral problar\u0131n tan\u0131t\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 makale <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nature Materials<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dergisinde yay\u0131mland\u0131. Do\u011frudan beyin dokusuna yerle\u015ftirilen problar bu organ\u0131n s\u0131cak, nemli ve pek de misafirperver olmayan ortam\u0131nda uzun s\u00fcre bozulmadan kalabilecek \u015fekilde tasarland\u0131. Koruyucu bir k\u0131l\u0131f i\u00e7indeki sens\u00f6rlerden ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lara veriler gidiyor. B\u00f6ylece her bir n\u00f6ronun ne zaman ate\u015flendi\u011fini veya n\u00f6ron a\u011flar\u0131n\u0131n ne zamanlar ileti\u015fime ge\u00e7ti\u011fini g\u00f6rme imkan\u0131na kavu\u015fan ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar Parkinson, Alzheimer kaynakl\u0131 n\u00f6ral a\u015f\u0131nma ve ya\u015flanma gibi n\u00f6rolojik bozukluklar\u0131n nas\u0131l tedavi edilebilece\u011fi hakk\u0131nda fikir y\u00fcr\u00fctebilecek, hatta bili\u015fsel becerilerin iyile\u015ftirilmesi i\u00e7in ad\u0131mlar at\u0131labilecek.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mevcut implantlarla beyni kand\u0131rmak pek m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fil; yabanc\u0131 cisimlere verilen tepkiyle kar\u015f\u0131la\u015fmayan bir implant hen\u00fcz yok. Ger\u00e7ek n\u00f6ronlara ve n\u00f6ral dokuya k\u0131yasla fazla b\u00fcy\u00fck ve sert olan geleneksel implantlarda beynin s\u00fcrekli izlenmesini zorla\u015ft\u0131ran temel bir engel mevcut. Buna g\u00f6re implant\u0131n beyne ilk yerle\u015ftirilme a\u015famas\u0131nda n\u00f6ronlar i\u015flem g\u00f6ren alandan adeta \u00e7ekilirler. \u00c7al\u0131\u015fmalar beyne \u00f6zg\u00fc ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k sisteminin yabanc\u0131 nesneyi alg\u0131lad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, hemen i\u015fe koyuldu\u011funu, inflamasyon yan\u0131t\u0131 verdi\u011fini ve aleti izole edecek \u015fekilde dokuyu \u00e7evreledi\u011fini g\u00f6steriyor. Sinyalleri ayr\u0131k dokunun \u00f6tesinden yakalamak m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de olsa problar\u0131n pozisyon de\u011fi\u015ftirmesi ve civar n\u00f6ronlardan gelen sinyallerle problar\u0131nkinin kar\u0131\u015fmas\u0131 olas\u0131l\u0131k dahilinde.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lieber\u2019in laboratuvar\u0131ndaki lisans\u00fcst\u00fc \u00f6\u011frencilerinden Xiao Yang -kendisi ayn\u0131 zamanda \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmaya ait makalenin de ba\u015fyazar\u0131- \u201cbu durumun kaydedilen sinyalin kararl\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 bozabilece\u011fini\u201d ifade ediyor. Gen\u00e7 kad\u0131n kendi geli\u015ftirdikleri probla harekete ge\u00e7en ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k cevab\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6nemsiz d\u00fczeyde oldu\u011funu, probun dokuya yerle\u015ftirilmesini izleyen 24 saat i\u00e7inde sinyal toplamaya ba\u015flayabildiklerini ve hatta doku onar\u0131m\u0131n\u0131n da derhal tetiklendi\u011fini belirtiyor. Yang devasa boyutlardaki eski tip n\u00f6ral problar\u0131n aksine, geli\u015ftirdikleri yeni nesil problar\u0131n n\u00f6ronlarla ayn\u0131 boyutlarda oldu\u011funu s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor. Ayr\u0131ca bu yeni problar daha \u00f6nce hi\u00e7bir laboratuvar\u0131n ula\u015famad\u0131\u011f\u0131 iki \u00f6zelli\u011fi daha kopyal\u0131yor: Mevcut n\u00f6ronlar\u0131n bi\u00e7imi ve esnekli\u011fi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">N\u00f6ronlar\u0131 bir nevi iriba\u015fa -kurba\u011fa yavrusuna- benzetebiliriz; yuvarlak bir kafan\u0131n alt\u0131nda uzanan uzun, esnek bir kuyruk. Yang\u2019\u0131n belirtti\u011fine g\u00f6re bu yeni n\u00f6ron-benzeri elektronik yap\u0131 \u015fimdiye kadar yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015f problardan 5 ila 20 kat daha esnek.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tipik bir n\u00f6ronun kal\u0131nl\u0131\u011f\u0131 yakla\u015f\u0131k olarak ince bir sa\u00e7 teli kadard\u0131r (20 mikron); \u201ckuyruk\u201d denilen uzant\u0131 ise bundan 10-20 defa daha ince olabilir. Bu kal\u0131nl\u0131ktaki, hatta daha da ince olabilen n\u00f6ron-benzeri elektronik yap\u0131, b\u00f6ylece \u015fimdiye kadar geli\u015ftirilmi\u015f en k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck prob olma \u00f6zelli\u011fine kavu\u015fuyor. Mikroskopik boyutlardaki bu nesneyi yapmak i\u00e7in Yang ve ekibi fotolitografi denen bir y\u00f6ntemden faydalanm\u0131\u015f. Buna g\u00f6re \u015fablonun materyal \u00fczerine aktar\u0131lmas\u0131 \u0131\u015f\u0131k arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftiriliyor ve probun metal ile polimerden yap\u0131l\u0131 d\u00f6rt ayr\u0131 tabakas\u0131 birden ayn\u0131 anda olu\u015fuyor. \u0130\u015flem tamamland\u0131\u011f\u0131nda bu h\u00fccre kopyalar\u0131ndan 16 adedi hipokamp\u00fcs i\u00e7ine yerle\u015ftiriliyor; ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar\u0131n fare beyninde bu alan\u0131 se\u00e7mesinin nedeni \u00f6\u011frenme, bellek ve ya\u015flanma gibi s\u00fcre\u00e7lerle ili\u015fkisinden kaynaklan\u0131yor. Problar burada g\u00f6zenekli bir a\u011f yap\u0131s\u0131 olu\u015fturarak beynin \u00e7apraz ba\u011fl\u0131 n\u00f6ron a\u011f\u0131n\u0131 taklit etmi\u015f oluyorlar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B\u00fcy\u00fck ve sert problar n\u00f6ronlar\u0131 yerinden edip ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar\u0131n incelemek istedi\u011fi n\u00f6ral ba\u011flant\u0131lar\u0131 bozabilir. Yang\u2019\u0131n geli\u015ftirdi\u011fi problar ise h\u00fccrelere b\u00fct\u00fcn\u00fcyle g\u00f6m\u00fcl\u00fcyor ve implante edildikleri yerde %1\u2019den daha k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir hacim kapl\u0131yor. Yerle\u015ftirildikleri andan aylar sonras\u0131na kadar n\u00f6ronlar bu yapay a\u011fla b\u00fct\u00fcnle\u015fip ahenkli bir melez olu\u015fturuyor. Bu da ekibin implantasyondan aylar sonra bile ayn\u0131 kararl\u0131l\u0131kta verilere ula\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011fl\u0131yor. Sonu\u00e7ta tek bir n\u00f6ron sinyali dahi kaybolmuyor. Oysa yeni geli\u015ftirilen problar ki\u015finin kendi k\u00f6k h\u00fccrelerini devreye sokuyor ve bunlar\u0131n beynin hasarl\u0131 b\u00f6lgesine aktar\u0131lmas\u0131na destek oluyor. Halihaz\u0131rda Yang \u015fimdikinden daha da k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ve daha esnek prob tasar\u0131mlar\u0131 \u00fczerinde \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131yor.
