Toplant\u0131lar iptal, okullar tatil, baz\u0131 \u00fclkelere giri\u015f \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f yasak, u\u00e7u\u015flar iptal. En ya\u015fl\u0131lar\u0131m\u0131z bile b\u00f6yle bir karantina d\u00f6nemi ya\u015famad\u0131. Neden tam \u015fimdi 2020 y\u0131l\u0131 ba\u015flar\u0131nda oldu bu birdenbire?<br \/>\nB\u00fct\u00fcn bu toplumsal dinamikler ve birdenbire ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen olaylar komplo teorisyenleri i\u00e7in bi\u00e7ilmi\u015f kaftan. Onlara g\u00f6re her \u015feyin arkas\u0131nda bir komplo var, bir neden var, \u00f6zetle i\u015fin bir \u201crasyonalitesi\u201d var. Koronan\u0131n fark\u0131 yeni evrim ge\u00e7irmi\u015f bir vir\u00fcs olmas\u0131ndan dolay\u0131, yeni yerle\u015fti\u011fi kona\u011f\u0131n \u015fartlar\u0131n\u0131 (yani biz <em>Homo sapiensleri<\/em>) hen\u00fcz bilmiyor. Belli bir s\u00fcre ge\u00e7tikten sonra hem bizler onlara ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k kazanaca\u011f\u0131z hem de onlar kendi sonsuz ya\u015famlar\u0131 i\u00e7in mutasyona u\u011frayacaklar. Herpes vir\u00fcs\u00fc kap\u0131nca bir \u015fey olmuyor, bizle beraber ya\u015fay\u0131p gidiyorlar, arada bir de ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k sistemimiz zay\u0131flay\u0131nca u\u00e7uk \u00e7\u0131kart\u0131yoruz. Ancak koronada durum farkl\u0131. Hen\u00fcz bize al\u0131\u015fmad\u0131\u011f\u0131ndan bazen \u00f6l\u00fcme neden oluyor. O zaman bu panik niye? \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc mevcut sa\u011fl\u0131k sistemi buna uygun de\u011fil. Herkese yetecek kadar solunum cihaz\u0131 olsa bu yeni vir\u00fcs\u00fc en az zayiatla, normal hayat\u0131m\u0131za devam ederek atlatabilirdik.<br \/>\n\u00d6zetle vir\u00fcs krizi diye bir \u015fey yok, bu bir kapitalizm krizidir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bilim indirgemeci ve belirlenimci midir?<br \/>\n<\/strong>San\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n aksine do\u011fa bilimleri ne indirgemeci ne de belirlenimcidir. Ne de do\u011frusal bir neden-sonu\u00e7 ili\u015fkisine dayan\u0131r. D\u00fcnya neden bir kartopu de\u011fil? E\u011fer \u0131s\u0131n\u0131yorsa D\u00fcnya neden \u0131s\u0131n\u0131yor? Neden 2013 Haziran\u0131nda Gezi direni\u015fi ger\u00e7ekle\u015fti? Neden korona vir\u00fcs\u00fc birden yay\u0131ld\u0131 ya da neden b\u00f6yle bir toplumsal pani\u011fe yol a\u00e7t\u0131? Bu sorular\u0131 neredeyse sonsuza kadar uzatmak m\u00fcmk\u00fcn. \u00c7ok s\u0131k rastlad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z ama ba\u015ftan sona hatal\u0131 bir kli\u015fe vard\u0131r: \u201cBilimler nas\u0131l sorusuna cevap arar, felsefe ise ni\u00e7in sorusuna.\u201d Bu s\u00f6z\u00fcn hangi felsefi ya da bilimsel cehaletten kaynakland\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 belki \u00e7ok uzun irdelemek gerekir, ama burada vurgulamak istedi\u011fim nokta ba\u015fka: \u201cneden\u201d (ya da \u201cni\u00e7in\u201d) kavram\u0131 gerek bilimde gerekse felsefede ba\u015fat bir konumdad\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Elmalar a\u011fa\u00e7tan neden d\u00fc\u015fer?<br \/>\n&#8211; K\u00fctle\u00e7ekim y\u00fcz\u00fcnden!<br \/>\n&#8211; Peki, k\u00fctle\u00e7ekim neden vard\u0131r?<br \/>\n&#8211; Evrende b\u00fct\u00fcn sistemler en d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck enerji seviyelerine inerler. K\u00fctle\u00e7ekim potansiyeli d\u00fcnyan\u0131n merkezine yakla\u015ft\u0131k\u00e7a azal\u0131r. A\u011fa\u00e7ta duran elma yerdeki elmaya g\u00f6re daha y\u00fcksek bir potansiyel enerjidedir. O y\u00fczden elma d\u00fc\u015fer.<br \/>\n&#8211; Peki, neden b\u00f6yle?<br \/>\n&#8211; Fizik yasalar\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f kayna\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kimse tam olarak bilmiyor, ama b\u00fcy\u00fck ihtimalle evrenin ba\u015flang\u0131c\u0131ndaki simetriden ve bu simetrinin k\u0131r\u0131n\u0131m\u0131ndan kaynaklanm\u0131\u015f olabilir.<br \/>\nBilimde neden-ni\u00e7in sorular\u0131n\u0131n cevab\u0131 hi\u00e7bir zaman tam olarak verilmez, devam eder gider. Herhangi bir usavuruma \u201crasyonel de\u011fil\u201d (ya da g\u00fcnl\u00fck dilde mant\u0131ks\u0131z) dedi\u011fimiz zaman kastedilen asl\u0131nda onda \u201creason\u201d olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131, yani neden-sonu\u00e7 ili\u015fkilerinin do\u011fru olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 ya da tutars\u0131z oldu\u011fudur.<br \/>\n\u00c7evremize bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z zaman g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz olaylar\u0131n mutlaka bir nedeni olmas\u0131 gerekir diye d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr\u00fcz. Demek ki neden-sonu\u00e7 ili\u015fkileri hayvan zihinlerinde g\u00f6r\u00fclen bir do\u011fa olgusudur. Oysa Hume\u2019dan beri \u00e7ok iyi bilinir ki, iki olay aras\u0131nda tek s\u00f6yleyebilece\u011fimiz korelasyondur, yani ili\u015fkiselliktir. Oysa Newton zaman\u0131ndan beri biliniyor ki, iki de\u011fil de \u00fc\u00e7 cisim oldu\u011funda (\u00f6rne\u011fin G\u00fcne\u015f, D\u00fcnya ve Ay) bu cisimlerin birbirleri etraf\u0131nda d\u00f6nmelerini analitik denklemlerle ifade etmek m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fil. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla d\u00fcnyan\u0131n G\u00fcne\u015f etraf\u0131nda d\u00f6nme nedeni k\u00fctle\u00e7ekimdir diyemeyiz. Napol\u00e9on\u2019un dan\u0131\u015fmanlar\u0131 h\u00fck\u00fcmdara kitapta Tanr\u0131\u2019dan bahsedilmedi\u011fini s\u00f6yleyerek Laplace\u2019\u0131 k\u00f6t\u00fclemeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131lar. Laplace\u2019\u0131n cevab\u0131ysa tarihe ge\u00e7ti: \u201cO varsay\u0131ma ihtiya\u00e7 duymuyorum.\u201d(1)<br \/>\nAncak Laplace problemi \u00e7\u00f6zememi\u015fti. Son 20 y\u0131lda \u00fcstel bir \u015fekilde artan internet ve sosyal medya kullan\u0131m\u0131 bu karma\u015f\u0131k sisteme m\u00fcthi\u015f bir geri bildirim sa\u011flamakta. \u0130nsanlar d\u00fcnyan\u0131n her yerinden do\u011fru\/yanl\u0131\u015f an\u0131nda birtak\u0131m haberler al\u0131yorlar ve t\u0131pk\u0131 canl\u0131 bir organizma gibi sosyal medya b\u00fct\u00fcn bu girdilerden bir \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131 \u00fcretiyor. Eminim \u201ckorona krizini\u201d inceleyecek sosyologlar bu konuya geni\u015f yer ay\u0131racaklar. 5-10-20 y\u0131l arayla gelen \u00f6nceki SARS, MERS gibi vir\u00fcs \u00e7e\u015fitlerinin bu kadar pani\u011fe yol a\u00e7mamas\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6nemli bir nedeni sosyal a\u011flar\u0131n \u015fimdiye g\u00f6re daha zay\u0131f olu\u015flar\u0131 ve daha az geri bildirim vermeleri olmalar\u0131 diye d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcyorum.<br \/>\n\u00d6te yandan insan beyni do\u011frusal d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnmeye al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in ve neden-sonu\u00e7 ili\u015fkilerini A olay\u0131 B\u2019ye neden olur \u015feklinde de\u011ferlendirmeye evrimle\u015fti\u011fi i\u00e7in, vir\u00fcs gibi karma\u015f\u0131k bir meseleyi kafas\u0131nda \u00e7\u00f6zemeyip a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 tepkiler verebiliyorlar. \u00d6rne\u011fin sosyal medyada \u201cevde kalmayan bir ba\u015fkas\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcne neden olacakt\u0131r\u201d gibi a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 ifadelere \u00e7ok s\u0131k rastlar olduk. Bu t\u00fcr beyanlar sadece e\u011fitimsiz ya da konunun uzman\u0131 olmayan ki\u015filerden de\u011fil bazen yo\u011fun bak\u0131mda \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan doktorlardan veya uzmanlardan da gelebiliyor. \u00d6te yandan AVM\u2019ler a\u00e7\u0131k, i\u015fyerleri a\u00e7\u0131k, insanlar metrob\u00fcslerle i\u015fe gelip gidiyorlar. Bunlar sanki yokmu\u015f gibi, soka\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kan insan\u0131 lin\u00e7 etmeye y\u00f6nelik bir #evdekal kampanyas\u0131 ya\u015f\u0131yoruz. Sanki insanlar sonsuza kadar evde kalacaklar ve vir\u00fcsten kurtulacaklarm\u0131\u015f gibi bir hava estiriliyor. Oysa bu ge\u00e7ici eve kapanmalar, okula tatilleri vs sadece ve sadece sa\u011fl\u0131k merkezlerine y\u0131\u011f\u0131lmay\u0131 \u00f6nlemeye y\u00f6nelik. \u00dcstelik tam ters bir etki yap\u0131yor \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc biraz \u00f6ks\u00fcren insanlar eskiden olsa hastaneye gitmeyecekken \u015fimdi acil servislere y\u0131\u011f\u0131ld\u0131lar. Di\u011fer bir deyi\u015fle toplumun bir kesiminin hasta olmas\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6ze alarak, vir\u00fcs\u00fcn evrim ge\u00e7irmesini beklemek ve b\u00f6ylece vir\u00fcse ba\u011f\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k kazanmak. Yoksa uzmanlar\u0131n dedi\u011fine g\u00f6re bu pandemiden % 100 kurtulu\u015f ancak bir ay s\u00fcreyle tam bir soka\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kma yasa\u011f\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra b\u00fct\u00fcn toplumun testlerden ge\u00e7irilip hastalar\u0131n izole edilerek tedavi edilmesiyle m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olabilir ki, bu da T\u00fcrkiye ger\u00e7ekleriyle uyu\u015fmamakta. Ancak Lorenz\u2019in analizlerinde oldu\u011fu gibi b\u00fct\u00fcn bu modellemelerde kelebek etkisi \u00e7ok bask\u0131nd\u0131r. O nedenle \u00f6rne\u011fin 2 hafta sonras\u0131n\u0131n hava tahminini kimse pek ciddiye almaz. Hal b\u00f6yleyken, yine benzer modellemelerle ancak \u00e7ok daha fazla parametreyi i\u015fin i\u00e7ine katarak yap\u0131lan iklim modellemeleri sonucu bir y\u0131l hatta 10 y\u0131l sonras\u0131nda D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n felaket d\u00fczeyde \u0131s\u0131naca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 iddia edenlere neden inan\u0131l\u0131yor? \u0130\u015fte bu noktada bilimsel y\u00f6ntem ve tart\u0131\u015fma bir kenara b\u0131rak\u0131l\u0131p i\u015fin i\u00e7ine politik, ideolojik, sosyolojik, psikolojik vs fakt\u00f6rler kar\u0131\u015f\u0131yor. Bir de elbette basit do\u011frusal a\u00e7\u0131klamalar herkesin anlayabilece\u011fi ve kolayca inanabilece\u011fi arg\u00fcmanlar (bir ifadeyle \u201cmemler\u201d) \u00fcretti\u011fi i\u00e7in. \u201cKarbon dioksit bir sera gaz\u0131, atmosferde karbon dioksit artarsa d\u00fcnyam\u0131z \u0131s\u0131n\u0131r\u201d arg\u00fcman\u0131 herkese anla\u015f\u0131l\u0131r ve kolay geliyor. Kimse atmosferimizdeki karbon dioksitin asl\u0131nda % 0,035 oran\u0131nda oldu\u011funu ve bunun da % 99\u2019unun d\u00fcnyan\u0131n kendi \u00fcretti\u011fi karbon dioksit oldu\u011funu sorgulam\u0131yor. Oysa karbon dioksitin d\u00fcnya iklimine etkisi do\u011frusal bir neden sonu\u00e7 ili\u015fkisi i\u00e7inde de\u011fil. \u00dcstelik de insan kaynakl\u0131 karbondioksit d\u00fcnyan\u0131n kendi \u00fcretti\u011finin yan\u0131nda \u00e7ok \u00e7ok k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir y\u00fczde olu\u015fturuyor. Yine de \u201ck\u00fcresel \u0131s\u0131nmac\u0131lar\u201d bu k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck etkiyi kendi bilgisayar modellerinde \u00e7ok bask\u0131n hale getirebiliyorlar. B\u00fct\u00fcn mesele bu modellemeleri nas\u0131l yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131z ve hangi girdileri verdi\u011finizle ilgili. Bu bir bilimsel tart\u0131\u015fma oldu\u011fu halde tamamen politik, sosyolojik, k\u00fclt\u00fcrel ve ideolojik boyutlar kazanm\u0131\u015f durumda.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019in serin oldu\u011fu d\u00f6nemde d\u00fcnyan\u0131n neden donmu\u015f bir buz topu olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131na dair a\u00e7\u0131klamay\u0131 getirmek hi\u00e7 de g\u00fc\u00e7 de\u011fildir. Karbondioksit y\u00f6n\u00fcnden zengin bir atmosferin, G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019ten gelen \u0131s\u0131y\u0131 gezegenin y\u00fczeyine yak\u0131n bir yerde hapsedece\u011fini ve b\u00f6ylece sera etkisi sayesinde s\u0131cak kalaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 da s\u00f6yleyebiliriz. G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019ten gelen g\u00f6zle g\u00f6r\u00fclebilir (k\u0131sa dalga boylu) \u0131\u015f\u0131k, karbondioksit gibi gazlar\u0131n i\u00e7inden so\u011furulmadan ge\u00e7er ve D\u00fcnya y\u00fczeyini \u0131s\u0131t\u0131r. Is\u0131nan y\u00fczey, enerjisini yeniden yayarak onu tayf\u0131n uzun dalga boylu k\u0131z\u0131lalt\u0131 dalga boylar\u0131nda uzaya do\u011fru geri g\u00f6nderir. Su buhar\u0131 ve karbondioksit gibi gazlar bu k\u0131z\u0131lalt\u0131 radyasyonun bir k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131 so\u011furur ve so\u011furdu\u011fu enerjiyi t\u00fcm do\u011frultularda yeniden yayar. Bu enerjinin bir miktar\u0131 gezegenin y\u00fczeyine y\u00f6nelip onun \u0131s\u0131nmas\u0131na yol a\u00e7arken, di\u011fer bir k\u0131sm\u0131 uzaya ka\u00e7ar.<br \/>\nD\u00fcnya y\u00fczeyinin bug\u00fcnk\u00fc ortalama s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131 ile G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019e bizimle ger\u00e7ekte ayn\u0131 uzakl\u0131ktaki atmosfersiz Ay\u2019\u0131n ortalama s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131rarak sera etkisinin g\u00fcc\u00fcn\u00fc g\u00f6rebiliriz. Ay\u2019da ortalama y\u00fczey s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131 -18 <sup>0<\/sup>C\u2019yken, d\u00fcnyada bu s\u0131cakl\u0131k 15 <sup>0<\/sup>C\u2019dir. 33 <sup>0<\/sup>C\u2019lik bu fark tamamen, atmosferde bulunan y\u00fczde 0,035 oran\u0131ndaki karbondioksitin yan\u0131 s\u0131ra yine sera gazlar\u0131 olan su buhar\u0131 ile eser miktardaki metan gibi gazlar\u0131n da bulunmas\u0131ndan kaynaklan\u0131r. Atmosferin bile\u015fenlerindeki de\u011fi\u015fimler, gezegenin s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n hangi yollarla sabit kalm\u0131\u015f olabilece\u011fi hakk\u0131nda kafa yormam\u0131z\u0131 hayli kolayla\u015ft\u0131r\u0131r. Lovelock, Gaia mekanizmas\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6ne s\u00fcrmeden \u00f6nce Carl Sagan gibileri de benzer \u00e7er\u00e7eve dahilinde yetersiz \u00e7e\u015fitli arg\u00fcmanlar \u00fcretmi\u015fti ama kimse bu soruya yan\u0131t bulam\u0131yordu. D\u00fcnya ya\u015fland\u0131k\u00e7a, atmosferdeki sera gazlar\u0131n\u0131n G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019ten gelen \u0131s\u0131 art\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 dengelemek i\u00e7in mutlaka giderek azalm\u0131\u015f olmas\u0131 laz\u0131md\u0131r. Bunun nas\u0131l ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmi\u015f olabilece\u011fini anlamak genel anlamda kolayd\u0131r. D\u00fcnya\u2019daki fotosentez yapan ilk ya\u015fam bi\u00e7imleri havadan karbondioksiti al\u0131p v\u00fccutlar\u0131n\u0131 in\u015fa etmekte kullanm\u0131\u015fsa da bu sefer ba\u015fka bir sera gaz\u0131 olan -ancak karbondioksitten farkl\u0131 k\u0131z\u0131lalt\u0131 so\u011furma \u00f6zelliklerine sahip- metan gaz\u0131n\u0131 havaya b\u0131rakm\u0131\u015f olacakt\u0131. Denge, bakterilerin faaliyetleri artt\u0131k\u00e7a metan\u0131n taraf\u0131na do\u011fru, azald\u0131k\u00e7aysa karbondioksitin taraf\u0131na do\u011fru kayar.<br \/>\nBunun do\u011fadaki i\u015fleyi\u015finin nas\u0131l oldu\u011funu anlamak i\u00e7in at\u0131lmas\u0131 gereken ilk kritik ad\u0131m, hesaplamalara geri-bildirimi katmakt\u0131. Lovelock, G\u00fcne\u015f\u2019in artmakta olan \u0131s\u0131 \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 dikkate alan bir model arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla, bakterilerin b\u00fcy\u00fcme h\u0131z\u0131n\u0131n s\u0131cakl\u0131k 25 <sup>o<\/sup>C\u2019yken maksimum d\u00fczeyde oldu\u011funu, \u00f6te yandan daha y\u00fcksek veya d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck s\u0131cakl\u0131klarda bu h\u0131z\u0131n biraz azald\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ve s\u0131cakl\u0131k 0<sup> o<\/sup>C &#8211; 50<sup> o<\/sup>C aral\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n d\u0131\u015f\u0131na \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131ndaysa ortadan kalkt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kabul ederek D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 yukar\u0131 ilk bir milyar y\u0131l\u0131 s\u00fcresince s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 az-\u00e7ok de\u011fi\u015fmeden tutulabildi\u011fini g\u00f6sterdi. Daha sonraysa, bilhassa havaya oksijen salan ba\u015fka ya\u015fam bi\u00e7imlerinin ortaya \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131yla ba\u015fka s\u00fcre\u00e7ler devreye giriyordu. Oksijen, metanla tepkimeye girerek bu bile\u015feni a\u011f \u00f6rg\u00fcs\u00fcnden \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131yordu. Milyonlarca y\u0131l boyunca ad\u0131m ad\u0131m azalan karbondioksit yo\u011funlu\u011fu da m\u00fcdahil olan bu di\u011fer s\u00fcre\u00e7lerden biriydi. \u0130\u015fte Lovelock\u2019un Papatya D\u00fcnyas\u0131 modeli de bu karma\u015f\u0131k sistemi a\u00e7\u0131kl\u0131yordu. (17)<br \/>\nToparlarsak, d\u00fcnyan\u0131n iklimi s\u00fcrekli de\u011fi\u015fmekte. Ama bu de\u011fi\u015fim hangi y\u00f6nde oldu\u011funu ve nedenlerini saptamak \u00e7ok karma\u015f\u0131k bilgisayar modelleri gerektirmekte. Ama kimi zaman beliren olgularda belli \u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fcler, d\u00fczenler yakalayabiliriz. Karma\u015f\u0131k sistemler so\u011fan kabu\u011fu gibi i\u00e7 i\u00e7e ge\u00e7mi\u015f hiyerar\u015fik d\u00fczeyler \u015feklinde \u00f6rg\u00fctlenmi\u015ftir. Herhangi bir \u00fcst d\u00fczeydeki nedensellik ili\u015fkileri alt d\u00fczeydeki yasalarla a\u00e7\u0131klanamaz. Bir alt d\u00fczey bir \u00fcst d\u00fczeye \u201ca\u00e7\u0131klama\u201d imk\u00e2n\u0131 sunmasa da, \u00fcst d\u00fczeydeki yasalar alt d\u00fczeydekilerle \u00e7eli\u015femez. O nedenle toplumsal dinamikleri bir \u201ckomployla\u201d ya da tek bir \u201cmekanizmayla\u201d a\u00e7\u0131klamak beyhude bir \u00e7abad\u0131r.
