Kokular\u0131n beyinde tetikledi\u011fi yolu elektriksel uyaranla aktive ederek asl\u0131nda var olmayan bir kokunun fareler taraf\u0131ndan alg\u0131lanmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flad\u0131lar. Koku sinyali sim\u00fclasyonlar yoluyla olu\u015fturuldu\u011fundan ve insan yap\u0131m\u0131 oldu\u011fundan ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar sinyalin zaman\u0131n\u0131 ve s\u0131ras\u0131n\u0131 de\u011fi\u015ftirebilir ve farelerin sentetik kokuyu alg\u0131layabilmesi i\u00e7in hangi de\u011fi\u015fikliklerin ger\u00e7ekle\u015fti\u011fini belirleyebilirler.<\/p>\n<p>Doktora \u00f6\u011frencisi Edmund Chong, \u201cBeynin kokular\u0131 ayr\u0131 ayr\u0131 nas\u0131l alg\u0131layabildi\u011fini \u00e7\u00f6zmek k\u0131smen karma\u015f\u0131kt\u0131r. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc g\u00f6rme duyusu gibi di\u011fer duyulardan farkl\u0131 olarak tekil kokular\u0131n alg\u0131lanmas\u0131 i\u00e7in \u00f6nemli olan fakt\u00f6rleri hen\u00fcz bilmiyoruz. \u00d6rne\u011fin y\u00fcz tan\u0131mada beyin, bir ki\u015finin burnunu ve kulaklar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6rmeden, sadece g\u00f6zlere bakarak bile (g\u00f6rsel ipu\u00e7lar\u0131 yoluyla) insanlar\u0131 tan\u0131yabilmektedir. Ancak bu ay\u0131rt edici \u00f6zelliklerin her koku i\u00e7in ge\u00e7erli oldu\u011fu hen\u00fcz bulunamam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u201d a\u00e7\u0131klamalar\u0131nda bulundu.<\/p>\n<p><em>Science<\/em> dergisinde yay\u0131nlanan \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada hayvanlarda ve insanlarda burnun arkas\u0131nda bulunan koku so\u011fanc\u0131\u011f\u0131na odaklan\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Ge\u00e7mi\u015f \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar, havadaki koku molek\u00fcllerinin burundaki resept\u00f6r h\u00fccrelerini, koku so\u011fanc\u0131\u011f\u0131ndaki sinir ucu demetlerine (glomeruli) ve daha sonra beyin h\u00fccrelerine (n\u00f6ronlar) elektrik sinyalleri g\u00f6ndermek i\u00e7in tetikledi\u011fini ortaya \u00e7\u0131karm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Koku so\u011fanc\u0131\u011f\u0131ndaki sinir ucu demetlerinin aktivasyonunun hem zamanlama hem de s\u0131ra anlam\u0131nda her kokuya \u00f6zg\u00fc oldu\u011fu biliniyor. Bu zamanlama ve s\u0131ralaman\u0131n \u00f6zg\u00fcnl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc bir hayvan\u0131n ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 bir kokuyu nas\u0131l alg\u0131lad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, bu kokuya kar\u015f\u0131 nas\u0131l bir tepki \u00fcretti\u011fini ve kokuyu nas\u0131l hat\u0131rlayabildi\u011fini a\u00e7\u0131klayabilir. Ancak kokular zamanla de\u011fi\u015febilir veya ba\u015fka kokularla kar\u0131\u015f\u0131m olu\u015fturabilir. Bu durum, \u015fimdiye kadar tekil kokular\u0131n beyinde nas\u0131l bir yolu tetikledi\u011finin anla\u015f\u0131lmas\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan k\u0131s\u0131tlay\u0131c\u0131yd\u0131.
