Bu asimetrinin ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131n evrimsel hik\u00e2yesi \u015fu \u015fekildedir:<br \/>\nBirh\u00fccrelilikten \u00e7okh\u00fccrelili\u011fe ge\u00e7i\u015fte bir ara a\u015fama olan koloni ya\u015fam\u0131nda, koloniyi olu\u015fturan h\u00fccrelerin her noktada ayn\u0131 \u015fekil ve say\u0131da bulunduklar\u0131 g\u00f6ze \u00e7arpar. Genel olarak koloni a\u015famas\u0131nda kalm\u0131\u015f olan bireylerde (Volvox kolonisinde \u00f6rne\u011fin), koloni k\u00fcre \u015feklindedir ve s\u00fcrekli bir d\u00f6nme hareketi yapar. B\u00f6ylesi bir yap\u0131ya sahip olan canl\u0131da v\u00fccudun \u00fcst\u00fc-alt\u0131, \u00f6n\u00fc-arkas\u0131 ya da sa\u011f\u0131-solu gibi farkl\u0131l\u0131klar g\u00f6zlenmeyecektir. Sonu\u00e7 olarak, bir tek h\u00fccrenin geli\u015ferek yeni bir koloniyi olu\u015fturmas\u0131 s\u00fcrecinde, h\u00fccre say\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n artmas\u0131na ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak k\u00fcre \u015feklinde bir sonu\u00e7 ortaya \u00e7\u0131kacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Ancak ilerleyen evrimsel s\u00fcre\u00e7te embriyonik geli\u015fim s\u0131ras\u0131nda bu k\u00fcresel geli\u015fim durumunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131na \u00e7\u0131k\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6zl\u00fcyoruz. Hayvansal organizmalar\u0131n (Metazoa) en basitinden en karma\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131na kadar t\u00fcm t\u00fcrlerinde embriyonik geli\u015fimin Blastula a\u015famas\u0131ndan itibaren basit ya da karma\u015f\u0131k d\u00fczeyde bir asimetri kendini g\u00f6sterir. Basit d\u00fczeydeki asimetri \u201calt-\u00fcst\u201d farkl\u0131la\u015fmas\u0131d\u0131r, geli\u015fmi\u015f d\u00fczeydeki asimetri ise, alt-\u00fcst asimetrisine ek olarak ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen \u201c\u00f6n-arka\u201d farkl\u0131la\u015fmas\u0131d\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>En ilkel hayvanlar diyebildi\u011fimiz s\u00fcngerler ile geli\u015fmi\u015f bir hayvan grubu olan s\u00f6lentereler (denizanalar\u0131 \u00f6rne\u011fin) yaln\u0131zca basit bir alt-\u00fcst asimetrisine sahiptir. Bu hayvanlar denizlerde ya\u015farlar. Yer\u00e7ekimi nedeniyle a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 ile yukar\u0131 aras\u0131nda \u00e7ok say\u0131da farkl\u0131l\u0131k vard\u0131r. I\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131n ve tehlikenin geldi\u011fi yer yukar\u0131s\u0131d\u0131r. A\u015fa\u011f\u0131s\u0131 ise karanl\u0131k ve tehlikenin s\u00f6z konusu olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 y\u00f6nd\u00fcr. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla ilkel hayvan\u0131n alt ve \u00fcst k\u0131s\u0131mlar\u0131n\u0131n birbirinden farkl\u0131 geli\u015fim g\u00f6stermesi ka\u00e7\u0131n\u0131lmazd\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Hayvanlar \u00e2leminin b\u00fcy\u00fck b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fcn \u00f6zelli\u011fi hareket yetene\u011fine sahip olu\u015fudur. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla bir noktadan di\u011ferine giden bir canl\u0131 i\u00e7in de \u00f6n-arka kavramlar\u0131n\u0131n varl\u0131\u011f\u0131 s\u00f6z konusudur. Besinle ya da bir tehlikeyle ilk kar\u015f\u0131la\u015facak olan k\u0131s\u0131m canl\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6n k\u0131sm\u0131d\u0131r ki, duyu organlar\u0131n\u0131n (g\u00f6rme, tat alma, koklama ve i\u015fitme duyular\u0131n\u0131n) bu b\u00f6l\u00fcmde bulunmas\u0131 mant\u0131kl\u0131d\u0131r. Ayn\u0131 \u015fekilde bu duyu organlar\u0131ndan gelecek olan uyart\u0131lar\u0131 alg\u0131layan sinir sistemi topa\u011f\u0131n\u0131n (hadi ad\u0131na beyin diyelim) bu b\u00f6l\u00fcme yak\u0131n olmas\u0131n\u0131n da yarar\u0131 vard\u0131r. Sonu\u00e7 olarak bu farkl\u0131l\u0131k da ister istemez ba\u015fka bir asimetrik geli\u015fimi do\u011furur ki, daha \u00f6nce yaln\u0131zca \u00fcst-alt asimetrisinden s\u00f6z ederken, art\u0131k \u00f6n ve arka k\u0131s\u0131mlar\u0131ndan, bir ba\u015fka deyi\u015fle, ba\u015f ve kuyruk k\u0131s\u0131mlar\u0131ndan s\u00f6z etmeye ba\u015flam\u0131\u015f oluruz.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6n-arka asimetrisi ve \u00fcst-alt asimetrisi birlikte d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde ka\u00e7\u0131n\u0131lmaz olarak bir de \u201ciki yan\u201d ya da \u201csa\u011f\u201d ve \u201csol\u201d olgular\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7\u0131kar. Ancak di\u011fer iki eksenden farkl\u0131 olarak sa\u011f-sol ayr\u0131m\u0131 genelde bir asimetri g\u00f6stermez. Tehlikenin sa\u011fdan ya da soldan gelmesi, besinin sa\u011fda ya da solda bulunmas\u0131 beklenen bir genel durum de\u011fildir. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla sa\u011f ve sol k\u0131s\u0131mlar\u0131n\u0131n birbirinden farkl\u0131 olmas\u0131 canl\u0131ya bir art\u0131 sa\u011flamaktan ziyade olumsuz bir durum olu\u015fturacakt\u0131r. \u00d6rne\u011fin sa\u011fda ve solda e\u015fit oranda bulunmayan organ ya da kaslar canl\u0131y\u0131 bir hedefe y\u00f6nlendirmekten ziyade belki de kendi etraf\u0131nda d\u00f6nmesine neden olacakt\u0131r. Sa\u011f-sol ekseninde asimetri yerine simetri en iyi \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcmd\u00fcr. \u0130\u015fte \u00f6n-arka asimetrisine ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan bu sa\u011f-sol simetrisi, kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za yeni bir evrimsel basamak \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131r: Bilateria (bilateral ya da iki yanl\u0131 simetrili hayvanlar).
