Her saniyesi bilimi solumakla ge\u00e7en Ar\u0131k, yaln\u0131zca deneysel y\u00fcksek enerji fizi\u011fi alan\u0131nda yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalarla s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 kalm\u0131yor, \u00fclkemizin enerji sorunu \u00fczerine de kafa yoruyordu. \u00d6zellikle, toryum konusunda \u00e7ok zengin olan \u00fclkemizin bu sayede enerji darbo\u011faz\u0131ndan \u00e7\u0131k\u0131p d\u0131\u015fa ba\u011f\u0131ml\u0131l\u0131ktan kurtulabilece\u011fini belirtiyor ve toryum \u00fczerine yo\u011funla\u015f\u0131yordu.<\/em><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Prof. Dr. Baki Akku\u015f<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">T\u00fcrk Fizik Derne\u011fi Genel Ba\u015fkan\u0131<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Osman Azmi Barut<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">T\u00fcrk Fizik Derne\u011fi Genel Merkez Y\u00f6netim Kurulu \u00dcyesi<\/p>\n<p>30 Kas\u0131m 2007 tarihinde Isparta\u2019da meydana gelen u\u00e7ak kazas\u0131nda yitirdi\u011fimiz 6 de\u011ferli fizik\u00e7imizden biri olan Prof. Dr. Engin Ar\u0131k 14 Ekim 1948 tarihinde \u0130stanbul\u2019da d\u00fcnyaya geldi. \u0130stanbul \u00dcniversitesi fizik-matematik b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnden 1969 y\u0131l\u0131nda mezun olan Ar\u0131k, Pittsburgh \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde fizik dal\u0131nda y\u00fcksek lisans ve doktora yapt\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>\u0130stanbul \u00dcniversitesi Fen Fak\u00fcltesi kuramsal fizik k\u00fcrs\u00fcs\u00fcnde 1968-1969 d\u00f6neminde \u00f6\u011frenci asistan\u0131 olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan Ar\u0131k, 1969-1979 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Pittsburgh \u00dcniversitesi fizik b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnde ara\u015ft\u0131rma asistan\u0131 olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>1976-1979 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Londra \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde ara\u015ft\u0131rma g\u00f6revlisi olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan Ar\u0131k, 1979 y\u0131l\u0131nda Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i \u00dcniversitesi fizik b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcne ge\u00e7ti. 1981 y\u0131l\u0131nda do\u00e7ent olan Ar\u0131k, 1983 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u00fcniversiteden ayr\u0131larak 2 y\u0131l Control Data firmas\u0131nda uzman olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Engin Ar\u0131k 1988 y\u0131l\u0131nda profes\u00f6r oldu.<\/p>\n<p>1997-2000 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Viyana \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan Ar\u0131k, 1985 y\u0131l\u0131ndan bu yana Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i \u00dcniversitesi fizik b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnde \u00f6\u011fretim \u00fcyesi olarak g\u00f6rev yap\u0131yordu.<\/p>\n<p>Engin Ar\u0131k yine kendisi gibi Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i \u00dcniversitesi fizik b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnde g\u00f6revli kuramsal fizik\u00e7i Prof. Dr. Metin Ar\u0131k ile evliydi. Engin Ar\u0131k iki \u00e7ocuk annesi ve iki torun sahibiydi.<\/p>\n<p>De\u011ferli fizik\u00e7imiz Engin Ar\u0131k, <strong>deneysel y\u00fcksek enerji fizi\u011fi<\/strong> alan\u0131nda T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin d\u00fcnya \u00e7ap\u0131nda en \u00e7ok tan\u0131nan fizik\u00e7isiydi. Onun bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131n ne denli \u00f6nemli oldu\u011funu a\u015fa\u011f\u0131da teknik ayr\u0131nt\u0131lara girmeden herkesin anlayabilece\u011fi bir \u015fekilde anlatma\u011fa \u00e7al\u0131\u015faca\u011f\u0131z.<\/p>\n<p>\u015eimdi bu \u00e7ok de\u011ferli bilim insan\u0131m\u0131z\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6zetleyelim.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>CERN\u2019deki ATLAS deneyinin \u00f6nemi<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Engin Ar\u0131k CERN\u2019deki (Europen Center for N\u00fcclear Research) ATLAS deneyinde \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan ve Ankara \u00dcniversitesi ile Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i \u00dcniversitesi\u2019ndeki fizik\u00e7ilerden olu\u015fan grubun \u00f6nderi. Deneyi ve \u00f6nemini onun a\u011fz\u0131ndan dinleyelim:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCERN deki dairesel h\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131da protonlar saniyede 40 milyon defa \u00e7arp\u0131\u015f\u0131nca ve laboratuarda b\u00fcy\u00fck patlama an\u0131na yakla\u015f\u0131l\u0131nca evren bulmacas\u0131ndaki eksik par\u00e7a yerine oturacak. Yani maddeye k\u00fctlesini kazand\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 varsay\u0131lan ve ad\u0131n\u0131 \u0130ngiliz fizik\u00e7i Peter Higgs\u2019ten alan Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131 bulununca s\u0131rlar \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fclecek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvrenin ba\u015flang\u0131c\u0131nda bir bak\u0131\u015f\u0131m (simetri) olmas\u0131 gerekiyordu. Yani madde-antimadde \u015feklinde. Ancak antimadde yok oluyor. Bak\u0131\u015f\u0131ms\u0131z (asimetrik) bir d\u00fczende sadece madde kal\u0131yor. Oysa bir anti galaksi de olmas\u0131 gerekiyordu. Evrendeki par\u00e7ac\u0131klar k\u00fctlelerini nas\u0131l bir mekanizma sonucu kazand\u0131? Kurama g\u00f6re par\u00e7ac\u0131klar\u0131n k\u00fctle kazanmas\u0131 i\u00e7in Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n varl\u0131\u011f\u0131 gerekiyordu. O par\u00e7ac\u0131k olmaks\u0131z\u0131n evren olmazd\u0131. Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n bug\u00fcne kadar bulunamamas\u0131n\u0131n nedeni, k\u00fctlesi a\u011f\u0131r oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in o enerjiye ula\u015f\u0131lamad\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in miydi?<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u015eimdi Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n k\u00fctlesinin LHC (Large Hadron Collider-b\u00fcy\u00fck hadron \u00e7arp\u0131\u015ft\u0131rc\u0131) ad\u0131n\u0131 verdi\u011fimiz dairesel h\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131da ortaya \u00e7\u0131kacak muazzam enerjinin s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131 i\u00e7inde oldu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcl\u00fcyor. \u0130svi\u00e7re\u2019deki CERN yer alt\u0131 laboratuar\u0131nda LHC\u2019ye entegre olarak in\u015fa edilen d\u00fcnyan\u0131n en b\u00fcy\u00fck detekt\u00f6r\u00fc ATLAS, protonlar\u0131n \u00e7arp\u0131\u015fmas\u0131 sonucu ortaya \u00e7\u0131kacak par\u00e7ac\u0131klardan veri toplay\u0131p Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ve di\u011fer s\u00fcrprizleri bulacak. Par\u00e7alar\u0131 CERN \u00fcyesi \u00fclkelerin firmalar\u0131 taraf\u0131ndan imal edildikten sonra, yerin 100 metre alt\u0131ndaki kuyuya indirilip in\u015fa edilen ATLAS detekt\u00f6r\u00fc, 10 katl\u0131 bir bina y\u00fcksekli\u011finde ve 45 metre geni\u015fli\u011findedir. Bu deneyde bir araya gelen insan say\u0131s\u0131 2000\u2019e yak\u0131n. T\u00fcrkiye dahil 35 \u00fclkeden fizik\u00e7iler var.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cATLAS detekt\u00f6r\u00fcn\u00fcn saptayaca\u011f\u0131 s\u00fcrprizler aras\u0131nda, T\u00fcrk grubunun da \u00fczerinde \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc kuvark ailesi de olabilir. Bu Higgs par\u00e7ac\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n bulunmas\u0131 kadar \u00f6nemli olacak. T\u00fcrk grubu olarak bunun i\u00e7inde bulunmak bizi gururland\u0131r\u0131yor. Hep birlikte bunu kutlamay\u0131 umuyoruz.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8620\" src=\"https:\/\/bilimvegelecek.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Ads\u0131z.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"278\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yukar\u0131daki her bir kolon bir aileyi (family ya da generation) temsil ediyor. Bilinen 3 aile var.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cB\u00fcy\u00fck patlamadan bu yana evreni anlamak temel bilim ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131n\u0131n en \u00f6nemli hedefi olmu\u015ftur. Bug\u00fcn g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz galaksiler, y\u0131ld\u0131zlar, gezegenler ve insanlar, ba\u015flang\u0131\u00e7ta var olan temel par\u00e7ac\u0131klardan olu\u015fmu\u015f. Evren ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131 zaman sadece kuvarklar ve leptonlar vard\u0131. Bu kuvarklar birle\u015fip protonlar\u0131 olu\u015fturdu. Onlar birle\u015fip \u00e7ekirdekleri, atomlar\u0131; atomlar da birle\u015fip galaksileri olu\u015fturdu. Atomlar\u0131n i\u00e7ine girdik\u00e7e daha k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck par\u00e7ac\u0131klar\u0131 n\u00f6tronlar\u0131, protonlar\u0131 \u00e7ekirde\u011fin i\u00e7inde g\u00f6r\u00fcyoruz. Protonlar\u0131 ve n\u00f6tronlar\u0131 \u00e7arp\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u0131nca kuvarklar\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcyoruz. B\u00fct\u00fcn evreni meydana getirmek i\u00e7in, birinci ailedeki iki kuvark ve bir de elektron yeterli. CERN\u2019deki deneylerde ikinci aile kuvarklar\u0131n\u0131 ve leptonlar\u0131n\u0131 buldu\u011fumuzda \u015fa\u015f\u0131rd\u0131k. Daha sonra \u00fc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc aileyi de bulduk. Bu temel par\u00e7ac\u0131klar aras\u0131nda etkile\u015fim kuvveti var ve d\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc bir ailenin olmas\u0131 gerekiyor. Tabii bu kuramsal, e\u011fer varsa ATLAS deneyinde g\u00f6rece\u011fiz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cATLAS deneyinde saniyede 40 milyon olay meydana gelecek ve bilgisayarlarda milyonlarca i\u015flem sonucu ay\u0131klanarak olaylar\u0131n say\u0131s\u0131 5-10\u2019 a indirilecek.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin CERN\u2019e \u00fcye olmas\u0131n\u0131 istiyordu<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Engin Ar\u0131k, \u00fclkemizin CERN\u2019e \u00fcye olmas\u0131 i\u00e7in b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7aba sarf etmi\u015fti. T\u00fcrkiye CERN\u2019de g\u00f6zlemci stat\u00fcs\u00fcnde ve T\u00dcB\u0130TAK katk\u0131 pay\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6demedi\u011fi i\u00e7in \u00f6\u011frenciler merkezdeki programlara kat\u0131lam\u0131yor, burs alam\u0131yor ve deneyler aks\u0131yor. Ar\u0131k, bu durumu \u015f\u00f6yle ele\u015ftiriyordu:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cT\u00fcrkiye bir Avrupa \u00fclkesi olarak neden CERN\u2019e \u00fcye olmas\u0131n? Bilimsel ortamda olmak b\u00fcy\u00fck sayg\u0131nl\u0131k kazand\u0131r\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin \u00f6n\u00fcne hedefler koymas\u0131 gerekir. Biz projeleri tart\u0131\u015f\u0131yor sonra rafa kald\u0131r\u0131yoruz. At\u0131l\u0131m yapsak T\u00fcrkiye 15 y\u0131lda bilim \u00fclkesi olur. Bulgaristan 1999 y\u0131l\u0131nda 20. \u00fcye olarak CERN\u2019e kat\u0131ld\u0131. Romanya \u00fcye olmak \u00fczere. Ermenistan yoksul ama 1000 ki\u015filik Erivan Enstit\u00fcs\u00fc\u2019nde detekt\u00f6r kuruluyor. \u0130spanya bir zamanlar T\u00fcrkiye ile k\u0131yaslanabilir bir \u00fclkeydi, oysa \u015fimdi par\u00e7ac\u0131k fizi\u011finde ilerledi, yeralt\u0131 laboratuar\u0131 kurdu. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019deki par\u00e7ac\u0131k fizik\u00e7ilerinin say\u0131s\u0131 ise 10-20 ki\u015fiyi ge\u00e7miyor ve h\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131 kurmak i\u00e7in destek bulam\u0131yor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBir h\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131 merkezi kurman\u0131n pratik hayata ne faydas\u0131 var?\u201d sorusu akla gelebilir. \u015eu faydas\u0131 var ki; temel bilimin teknolojiye d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcm\u00fc kalk\u0131nmay\u0131 beraberinde getiriyor. Par\u00e7ac\u0131k h\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131lar\u0131, molek\u00fcler biyoloji ve t\u0131ptan n\u00fckleer fizi\u011fe, g\u0131da sterilizasyonu ve enerji \u00fcretiminden savunma sanayine y\u00fczlerce alanda kullan\u0131l\u0131yor.<\/p>\n<p>Yeri gelmi\u015fken, k\u0131saca CERN hakk\u0131nda bilgi verelim: \u0130kinci D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 sonras\u0131nda Sovyetler Birli\u011fi ve ABD\u2019nin mali ve bilimsel-teknolojik yetenekleriyle tek ba\u015flar\u0131na m\u00fccadele edemeyeceklerini g\u00f6ren 12 Avrupa \u00fclkesinin (Bel\u00e7ika, Almanya, Fransa, Danimarka, Hollanda, \u0130ngiltere, \u0130sve\u00e7, \u0130svi\u00e7re, \u0130talya, Norve\u00e7, Yugoslavya, Yunanistan) i\u015fbirli\u011fi ile 1954 y\u0131l\u0131nda kuruldu.<\/p>\n<p>Merkezi, \u0130svi\u00e7re ve Fransa s\u0131n\u0131r\u0131nda yer alan ve Cenevre \u015fehrine yak\u0131n olan CERN, d\u00fcnyan\u0131n en b\u00fcy\u00fck ve en \u00f6nemli par\u00e7ac\u0131k fizi\u011fi ara\u015ft\u0131rma laboratuar\u0131d\u0131r. Merkezde Nobel \u00f6d\u00fcllerini de i\u00e7eren pek \u00e7ok \u00f6nemli ke\u015fif yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Toryum\u2019un \u00f6nemini s\u00fcrekli vurgulad\u0131<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Engin Ar\u0131k, DPT (Devlet Planlama Te\u015fkilat\u0131) deste\u011fi ile y\u00fcr\u00fct\u00fclen ve Ankara\u2019da G\u00f6lba\u015f\u0131\u2019nda kurulu\u015fu planlanan <strong>T\u00fcrk H\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131 Merkezi<\/strong> i\u00e7in yo\u011fun \u00e7aba harc\u0131yordu.\u00a0 Onun deneysel y\u00fcksek enerji fizi\u011fi alan\u0131ndaki uluslararas\u0131 deneyimi ve b\u00fcy\u00fck bilgi birikimi proje a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan ya\u015famsal \u00f6nem ta\u015f\u0131yordu. Bu proje ger\u00e7ekle\u015firse \u00fclkemiz pek \u00e7ok sanayi kolundan savunma teknolojilerine kadar geni\u015f bir spektrumda d\u0131\u015fa ba\u011f\u0131ml\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fck oranda azaltacak ve bilim ve teknoloji de b\u00fcy\u00fck at\u0131l\u0131m yapacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Engin Ar\u0131k, kendi bilimsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 ve T\u00fcrk H\u0131zland\u0131r\u0131c\u0131 Merkezi projesinin d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda, \u00fclkemizin enerji sorunuyla da yak\u0131ndan ilgileniyor ve \u00f6zellikle toryum \u00fczerinde yo\u011funla\u015f\u0131yordu. Ar\u0131k\u2019\u0131n \u00e7e\u015fitli d\u00f6nemlerde toryum ile ilgili seslendirdi\u011fi d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncelerini konunun teknik ayr\u0131nt\u0131lar\u0131na girmeden k\u0131saca \u00f6zetleyelim:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cD\u00fcnya rezervlerinin yar\u0131dan fazlas\u0131 T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de, Bat\u0131 Anadolu da bulunuyor. Eski\u015fehir, Sivrihisar, Beypazar\u0131 ve K\u0131z\u0131lca\u00f6ren y\u00f6relerinde. Avustralya\u2019da 300 bin ton, Hindistan\u2019da 290 bin ton, Norve\u00e7\u2019te 170 bin ton, ABD\u2019de 160 bin ton, Kanada\u2019da 100 bin ton, Afrika\u2019da 35 bin ton, Brezilya\u2019da 16 bin ton ve T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de ise sondaj\u0131 yap\u0131l\u0131p kesinle\u015fen miktar 380 bin ton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToryumun 21. y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n stratejik maddesi olmak olas\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fckt\u00fcr. Yeni tip reakt\u00f6rlerde yak\u0131t olarak kullan\u0131lacak. E\u011fer biz toryum ile elektrik enerjisi \u00fcretebilmek olana\u011f\u0131na kavu\u015fursak, bu trilyonlarca varil petrole e\u015fde\u011ferde bir enerji kayna\u011f\u0131 olacak. Bir ba\u015fka \u015fekilde ifade edersek; 1 ton toryum 1 milyon varil petrole e\u015fde\u011fer enerji \u00fcretebiliyor. E\u011fer toryumu kullan\u0131ma sokabilirsek T\u00fcrkiye elektrik \u00fcretmek i\u00e7in petrol ya da do\u011falgaz sat\u0131n almak zorunda kalmayacak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJaponya, elinde hi\u00e7 toryum bulunmamas\u0131na ra\u011fmen, toryumla \u00e7al\u0131\u015facak n\u00fckleer enerji santrallerine y\u00f6nelik \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar yap\u0131yor. 290 bin ton toryum rezervi bulunan Hindistan enerji gelece\u011fini toryumda ar\u0131yor. B\u00fcy\u00fck bir servetin \u00fczerinde oturuyoruz; k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir bilimsel yat\u0131r\u0131mla toryumla enerji \u00fcretimi alan\u0131n\u0131n d\u00fcnya devleri aras\u0131na girebiliriz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToryumun yak\u0131t olarak kullan\u0131lmas\u0131 fikri ilk defa 1993 y\u0131l\u0131nda, CERN\u2019de \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan, 1984 y\u0131l\u0131nda Nobel Fizik \u00d6d\u00fcl\u00fc\u2019n\u00fc alan \u0130talyan fizik\u00e7i Carlo Rubbia taraf\u0131ndan \u00f6nerildi. Her yeni enerji kayna\u011f\u0131 yeni bir uygarl\u0131k demektir. Uygarl\u0131klar, enerji kaynaklar\u0131n\u0131n de\u011fi\u015fimiyle evrim ge\u00e7irir. K\u00f6m\u00fcr\u00fcn kullan\u0131m\u0131 \u0130ngiliz Sanayi Devrimi\u2019ni do\u011furmu\u015ftu. Bu da yeni bir anlay\u0131\u015f, yeni bir iktisadi sistem, d\u00fcnyaya bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131nda k\u00f6kl\u00fc bir de\u011fi\u015fim, k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc, dini, politikay\u0131 ve pek \u00e7ok \u015feyi farkl\u0131 yorumlamak demekti. Bu ayn\u0131 zamanda zenginlik anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131nda de\u011fi\u015fim demekti. Benzer bir etki 1945\u2019ten sonra, n\u00fckleer enerjinin toplum ya\u015fam\u0131na giri\u015fi ile ger\u00e7ekle\u015fti. Toryumun T\u00fcrkiye i\u00e7in \u00f6nemini \u015f\u00f6yle vurgulayabiliriz: 380 bin ton toryumun toplam elektrik enerjisi e\u015fde\u011feri <strong>2 trilyon<\/strong> <strong>dolar<\/strong> etmektedir.<\/p>\n<p>Bu arada hen\u00fcz ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilmeyen CERN \u00fcyeli\u011fi de bir an \u00f6nce hayata ge\u00e7irilmelidir.
