Hox genleri, embriyonun bireye d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcm\u00fcne kadar geli\u015fmesini sa\u011flayan en \u00f6nemli gen ailesidir. Homeobox genleri ise v\u00fccudun embriyonel d\u00f6nemde olu\u015fmas\u0131nda g\u00f6rev alan anlat\u0131m yapan gen ailesidir. Omurgal\u0131larda \u00f6zellikle Hox genleri ile beraber i\u015flev g\u00f6rerek embriyonun geli\u015fmesini sa\u011flar.<br \/>\nHayvanlardaki en \u00f6nemli homeotik genler omurgas\u0131zlarda HOM lokuslar\u0131 ve omurgal\u0131larda Hox lokuslar\u0131 denen genlerdir.<br \/>\n\u00d6karyotlar\u0131n hepsi, di\u011fer genlerin ifade edilmesini d\u00fczenleyen genlere sahiptir. Fakat hayvanlar alemi d\u0131\u015f\u0131ndaki \u00f6karyotlar aras\u0131nda, homeotik genlerde homeobox bulunmaz; bu d\u00fczenleyici genler v\u00fccut formunun i\u015flevinde g\u00f6rev yapar. \u015eimdiye kadar, yap\u0131s\u0131nda hem homeobox i\u00e7eren hem de homeotik i\u015flev g\u00f6ren Hox genleri sadece hayvanlarda ke\u015ffedilmi\u015ftir. Ve en basit s\u00fcngerlerden en karma\u015f\u0131k yap\u0131ya sahip b\u00f6cekler ve omurgal\u0131lara kadar hayvanlar\u0131n hepsi, Hox genlerine sahiptir; bu genlerin i\u00e7erdikleri homeobox DNA sekanslar\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131k\u00e7a birbiriyle ili\u015fkilidir.<br \/>\nHox genlerinin hayvan farkl\u0131la\u015fmas\u0131ndaki rollerinin anla\u015f\u0131lmas\u0131 morfolojik evrime yeni bir bak\u0131\u015f a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131 getirmi\u015ftir. Bu da, morfolojik evrimin \u00f6nemli nedenlerinden birinin, ortak genlerin anlat\u0131m\u0131n\u0131n zamana ve yere g\u00f6re de\u011fi\u015fmesi oldu\u011fu fikridir. \u00d6rne\u011fin, d\u00f6rt \u00fcyelilerin (yani karasal omurgal\u0131lar olan amfibiler, s\u00fcr\u00fcngenler, ku\u015flar ve memeliler), sucul omurgal\u0131lar olan bal\u0131klardan evrimle\u015fmesini d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcn. Bu omurgal\u0131lar\u0131n tarihinde b\u00fcy\u00fck de\u011fi\u015fimlerden birisi, bal\u0131klar\u0131n y\u00fczge\u00e7lerinden d\u00f6rt \u00fcyelilerin bacaklar\u0131n\u0131n geli\u015fmesidir. Bal\u0131klar\u0131n y\u00fczge\u00e7lerinin aksine, d\u00f6rt \u00fcyeliler iskelet olarak destek sa\u011flamak \u00fczere \u00fcyelerin ucuna uzanan parmaklara (insanda el-ayak parmaklar\u0131) sahiptir. Hox geninin \u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fc, \u00fcye i\u00e7erisinde, kemiklerin ne kadar d\u0131\u015far\u0131ya do\u011fru b\u00fcy\u00fcyece\u011fi hakk\u0131nda konumla ilgili bilgi sa\u011flamaktad\u0131r. Akraba bir Hox geni, bal\u0131k y\u00fczgeci geli\u015fim s\u0131ras\u0131nda ifade edilir; fakat bu gen, y\u00fczge\u00e7 tomurcu\u011funun ucundan geride yer alan daha k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir b\u00f6lgede ifade edilir. Kendisinin ifade edilme b\u00f6lgesini, tomurcu\u011fun ucuna kadar geni\u015fleten bu Hox genindeki bir mutasyon, b\u00fcy\u00fck bir olas\u0131l\u0131kla iskelet elemanlar\u0131n\u0131n uzamas\u0131n\u0131n evrimine katk\u0131da bulunarak, \u00fcyelerin karada ya\u015fayan omurgal\u0131 hayvanlar\u0131 desteklemesini m\u00fcmk\u00fcn k\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Omurgas\u0131z hayvanlardan omurgal\u0131lar\u0131n evrimle\u015fmesi, makroevrimde bile \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck bir olayd\u0131r ve b\u00fcy\u00fck bir olas\u0131l\u0131kla Hox genlerindeki de\u011fi\u015fikliklerle ba\u011flant\u0131l\u0131d\u0131r.<br \/>\nHox genleri temel hayvan \u015fubelerinin hepsinde saptanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r ve \u00f6nemli \u00fc\u00e7 ortak \u00f6zellikleri vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>1) Gen kompleksleri \u015feklinde organize olmu\u015flard\u0131r. Yani ili\u015fkili genler kromozom \u00fczerinde birbirlerine yak\u0131n olarak yerle\u015fmi\u015flerdir ve orijinal genlerin duplikasyonlar\u0131 ile olu\u015ftuklar\u0131na i\u015faret eder. \u00c7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lan her \u015fube ve s\u0131n\u0131f, di\u011fer gruplarla kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131r\u0131ld\u0131klar\u0131nda \u00f6zg\u00fcl bir gen duplikasyonu ya da gen kayb\u0131 g\u00f6stermektedir.<\/p>\n<p>2) Genlerin kromozom boyunca 3\u2019 ve 5\u2019 y\u00f6n\u00fcndeki s\u0131ras\u0131 ile bu gen \u00fcr\u00fcnlerinin embriyodaki anteriy\u00f6r-posteriy\u00f6r yerle\u015fimi aras\u0131nda bir ba\u011flant\u0131 bulunmaktad\u0131r. Bu gen kompleksinin 3\u2019 ucunda yer alan genler embriyon\u0131n ba\u015f b\u00f6lgesinde ifade edilirken 5\u2019 ucunda yer alan genler embriyonun posteriy\u00f6r\u00fcne do\u011fru ifade edilir. Bu fenomen zamansal ve uzaysal d\u00fczlemsellik (temporal and spatial colinearity) olarak adland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r ve sadece Hox ve Hom genlere \u00f6zg\u00fc bir durumdur.<\/p>\n<p>3) Bu kompleks i\u00e7erisinde bulunan her bir lokus homebox ad\u0131 verilen ve evrimsel s\u00fcre\u00e7te hemen hemen hi\u00e7 de\u011fi\u015fime u\u011framam\u0131\u015f 180 baz \u00e7iftlik bir DNA dizisi i\u00e7erir. Bu dizi, DNA\u2019n\u0131n ba\u011flanma \u015feklinin olu\u015fmas\u0131na temel te\u015fkil eden kodlamay\u0131 yapmaktad\u0131r. Kodlanan bu protein di\u011fer genlerin anlat\u0131m\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fczenleyen transkripsiyon fakt\u00f6r\u00fcd\u00fcr. D\u00fczenleyici gen olma \u00f6zelli\u011finin de bulunmas\u0131 baz\u0131 fonksiyonlar i\u00e7inde ge\u00e7erlidir. \u00d6rne\u011fin: Timus ve baz\u0131 mekanoresept\u00f6rlerin olu\u015fumu, hipofizin anterior lobu, \u00e7ene olu\u015fumu ve Arka \u00fcyelerin olu\u015fumu i\u00e7in olduk\u00e7a \u00f6nemlidir. Bu b\u00f6lgelerdeki aktivite, her b\u00f6lgeye \u00f6zg\u00fc d\u00fczenleyici b\u00f6lgelerle kontrol edilir.<br \/>\nPitx1 esansiyel bir gendir. B\u00fct\u00fcn omurgal\u0131larda bulunur. Homozigot oldu\u011funda \u015fifreleme b\u00f6lgelerindeki mutasyonlar \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fcc\u00fcd\u00fcr (farelerde g\u00f6sterilmi\u015ftir). Ama \u015fifrelenmeyen b\u00f6lgelerdeki mutasyonlar \u00f6nemsizdir.<br \/>\nT\u00fcm omurgal\u0131lar birle\u015fik kemikli basen kemerine sahiptir. Bu kemer bal\u0131klar\u0131n y\u00fczge\u00e7lerini ve tetrapodlar\u0131n arka ayaklar\u0131n\u0131 olu\u015fturur. Bu yap\u0131lar\u0131n d\u00fczg\u00fcn geli\u015fmesi i\u00e7in omurgal\u0131lar pitx1\u2019e ihtiya\u00e7 duyar. Pitx1\u2019in bilinen en \u00f6nemli g\u00f6revi arka-\u00f6n ekstremitelerini olu\u015fturmas\u0131d\u0131r.<br \/>\nBaz\u0131 yalan yanl\u0131\u015f bilgiler i\u00e7ersinde Hox genlerinin evrime delil olmayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 dile getiren ve s\u00fcrekli yay\u0131n yapan ki\u015filerin, bilimden ne kadar uzak olduklar\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131kt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Kambriyen d\u00f6nemine ait (550 milyon y\u0131l \u00f6nce) yeni v\u00fccut yap\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n ortaya \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131n ard\u0131ndan 385-360 milyon y\u0131l \u00f6ncesinde bal\u0131klar\u0131n y\u00fczge\u00e7ten ayak geli\u015ftirerek karaya \u00e7\u0131kmalar\u0131, 210-65 milyon y\u0131l \u00f6nce ya\u015fayan dinozorlar\u0131n do\u011fal hayata uyum sa\u011flayarak yery\u00fcz\u00fcne yay\u0131lmalar\u0131; ku\u015f olmayan dinozorlar\u0131n yok olu\u015fu ve bizim de i\u00e7inde oldu\u011fumuz memelilerin ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f\u0131 gibi, derin evrimsel tarihe dayanan sorular\u0131n yan\u0131tlar\u0131 art\u0131k yaln\u0131zca paleontologlar\u0131n buldu\u011fu fosiller ile s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 de\u011fil.
