Bu \u015fakalarda,\u00a0 komikli\u011fin \u00f6tesinde matematiksel d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceye ve matemati\u011fin d\u00fcnyas\u0131na ait ipu\u00e7lar\u0131 vard\u0131r. Bir anlamda mizahla, matemati\u011fin izah\u0131 yap\u0131l\u0131r. Matematik d\u00fcnyas\u0131 tamam\u0131yla soyut bir d\u00fcnyad\u0131r. Bu d\u00fcnyada ya\u015fayan varl\u0131klar, say\u0131lar, e\u011friler, fonksiyonlar, diziler gibi matematiksel nesnelerdir. N. Wiener\u2019\u0131n ev adresinin yaz\u0131l\u0131 oldu\u011fu k\u00e2\u011f\u0131t bu nesneler aras\u0131nda yoktur. Matematik\u00e7i, kendi nesneleriyle matematiksel ger\u00e7e\u011fi ke\u015ffetmeyi ama\u00e7lar, yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n do\u011frulu\u011funu fiziksel ger\u00e7e\u011fin mant\u0131\u011f\u0131na ba\u015fvurarak onaylama yoluna gitmez. O, matematik yaparken ba\u015fka bir d\u00fcnyan\u0131n insan\u0131d\u0131r. Matematiksel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmaya yo\u011funla\u015fm\u0131\u015fsa b\u00fct\u00fcn enerjisini probleme y\u00f6neltti\u011finden, geriye kalan her \u015feyi bir kenara b\u0131rak\u0131r, onun i\u00e7in o an, zaman ve mek\u00e2n kaybolur. Bu durum N. Wiener gibi kendi d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda ya\u015fayan, g\u00fcnl\u00fck sorunlarla ba\u015f edemeyen bir matematik\u00e7i tipinin geli\u015fmesine yol a\u00e7ar ki bu da mizah i\u00e7in en elveri\u015fli ortamd\u0131r. Ku\u015fkusuz, \u201cdalg\u0131n matematik\u00e7i\u201d f\u0131kralar\u0131 ger\u00e7e\u011fin bir b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fc anlat\u0131rlar, abart\u0131l\u0131d\u0131rlar ama matematiksel \u00e7aban\u0131n ruhunu yans\u0131t\u0131rlar. Tart\u0131\u015fman\u0131n sonunda \u00f6\u011frencisine sorar, \u201c Ne tarafa gidiyordum ben?\u201d. \u00d6\u011frenci, \u201c\u015eu tarafa gidiyordunuz hocam.\u201d kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 verince \u201c\u0130yi\u201d der \u201cDemek \u00f6\u011fle yeme\u011fini yemi\u015fim\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Matemati\u011fin soyut yap\u0131s\u0131, g\u00fcnl\u00fck konu\u015fma dilinde bir\u00e7ok ki\u015fi i\u00e7in mizah konusudur. Bu espriler, daha \u00e7ok matemati\u011fi umursamay\u0131p bilmemekle \u00f6v\u00fcnenler ya da matematiksel d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin hayat\u0131n prati\u011fine uymad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 savunanlar taraf\u0131ndan ortaya at\u0131l\u0131r. Bu \u015fakalar\u0131n \u00f6znesi matematik\u00e7ilerdir ve di\u011fer bilim insanlar\u0131yla kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131r\u0131l\u0131rlar. Genellikle fizik\u00e7iler ve m\u00fchendisler taraf\u0131ndan anlat\u0131lan bu f\u0131kralarda matematik\u00e7i soyut \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcmler \u00fcreten, sorunu \u00e7\u00f6zemeyen ki\u015fidir. Renteln ve Dundes\u2019e g\u00f6re, m\u00fchendisler denklemlerin ger\u00e7ek d\u00fcnyay\u0131 olu\u015fturdu\u011funu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr, fizik\u00e7ilerse ger\u00e7ek d\u00fcnyan\u0131n denklemleri olu\u015fturdu\u011funu. Matematik\u00e7iler ise aradaki ba\u011flant\u0131y\u0131 kuramaz ya da bir matematik\u00e7inin (saf matematik\u00e7inin) denklemlerle fiziksel d\u00fcnya aras\u0131ndaki ba\u011f umurunda de\u011fildir. Bu f\u0131kralar matematikle dalga ge\u00e7mekle birlikte matematiksel d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin a\u00e7\u0131klanmas\u0131 bak\u0131m\u0131ndan ilgin\u00e7tir. Bu konuda \u00e7ok bilinen bir f\u0131kra:<\/p>\n<p><em>Bir m\u00fchendis, bir fizik\u00e7i ve bir matematik\u00e7i bir otelde gecelerler. M\u00fchendis duman kokusuyla uyan\u0131r, hole \u00e7\u0131kar ve bir de bakar ki yang\u0131n var. Koridora \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131nda o da alevleri g\u00f6r\u00fcr ve yang\u0131n hortumunu buldu\u011funda bir an d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr , \u201c\u00c7\u00f6z\u00fcm\u00fc buldum!\u201d diye ba\u011f\u0131rarak yata\u011f\u0131na geri d\u00f6ner.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Matematik\u00e7ilerin bir teoremin kan\u0131t\u0131n\u0131 yaparken daha \u00f6nce kan\u0131tlanm\u0131\u015f teoremleri referans g\u00f6stermeleri ola\u011fand\u0131r, ama bu durum matematik\u00e7i olmayanlar taraf\u0131ndan bir problemi daha \u00f6nce \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fclm\u00fc\u015f bir probleme indirgemek olarak alg\u0131lan\u0131r ve bu \u00e7o\u011fu zaman yanl\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
